I HATE the new Jack FM stations and clones!!

These new adult hits stations SUCK! I just want to vent my opinion about them. They play TOO MUCH old stuff, and I have always hated classic hits. Now they mix it in with hot AC? No good I say! I'd rather have classic rock and hot AC mixed in together. Why don't they do that? Well I guess I have no control. There are too many Spanish stations too. Can't understand how people can listen to Spanish music. That sucks too. I took a listen to Orlando's Rumba 100.3, never came back. I couldn't stand it! Las Vegas, NV has too many Spanish stations - now that market is just messed up. Too many .5's and no hot AC station there. Why do you people like the Jack FM format so much? I think it sucks. Plus it's killing some of the hot ACs like WRQX Mix 107.3 in Washington D.C., MD and KKCH 92.7 The Choice in Glenwood Springs, CO. I'm sure there's more too. I do hope there are NO MORE flips to this stupid format. I probably would like it a little better if I could listen to one on the regular radio in my market which is Milwaukee, WI, instead of having to listen to them online. Sorry, I just wanted to vent and express my opinion. The only thing I want in the radio market is for Hawaii to have a smooth jazz station. It has too many soft AC's, don't you think?

I've felt that it's been more enjoyable hearing JACK-FM on here in Nashville this weekend versus what I've heard online. Maybe it's because WCJK does a really good job with its music mix, but I found it even better hearing it on the radio versus on a webstream.
______________

Now then, you can hate all you want on the growing trend of Variety Hits stations but, really, what did Jim Rome listeners ever do to you? ;)
______________

Usually the reason stations play more old songs is 1) new songs are predictable and boring, and 2) old songs bring back noted memories. I'd rather listen to a traditional AAA station myself, or a great true jazz station (which are few and far between) - just not some predictable adult contemporary station.

I usually listen to XM's The Loft, XM Cafe, Hear Music, and Real Jazz channels; KCMP, KBEM, and KUOM here in the Twin Cities; and a few noted internet stations (i.e. Radio Paradise).

But then, I'm trying to be a music purist, and go after music that sounds slightly (if not more) better then the usual commercial fare.

Re: The new Jack FM stations

I'm only angry with not being able to make a request, and, if I choose to, send it out to someone.

ON Feb.14, for example, once a year, (at the very least!) ALL JACKS should break down and play a request going out to a loved one, for a small donation to a LOCAL charity or something.
______________
