I Hate Those WBPM Themed Weekends

Let me explain to why WBPM is putting those weekend where they music from the 70's where they play Lynard Synard, the Eagles, Foreigner, Joe Jackson, Aerosmith and others doesn't fit the station's format. It should be "Classic Hits", not "Classic Rock" and giuess what, it's still going to hurt WPDH, WPDH is the best station in Poughkeepsie playing classic rock, I mean come on!

WBPM needs to fix the music right away and play some songs that are part of the format under the "Classic Hits" brand such as Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On", Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive", the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There", the Stylistics "Betcha By Golly Wow", the Osmonds "One Bad Apple", some Earth, Wind & Fire, Donna Summer and a bunch of them are big hits, not just the rock hits. Fix the darn music!!!!!

Never mind playing those album cuts that are not hits. Remember one time, they play "Radar Love" by Golden Earring, that the song played on WBPM or "Two Tickets to Paradise" by Journey? This is going insane!

Maybe the station will be morphing into "Classic Rock 92.9" by year's end.

I hate those theme weekends on WBPM playing nothing but rock and pop of nothing but the 70's. Maybe play some Donna Summer and forget the rock cuts on the station, it will still hurt WPDH again. Anyone????

Somebody please get this bozo some valium, and revoke his poetic license....

One thing that strikes me as funny is the fact that Bozo here has gotten away with calling Mr. Turner a humorous name. I was thrown off the board for doing this.....

somebody please bring up some meaningful subjects....clowns like disney give me a headache....

Oh...just the type of topic I love to sink my teeth into. First of all, I happen to completey love the themed weekends on Classic HITS 92.9........and by the way, they did hurt WPDH in the last ratings period. Many of the diaries came from the Rhinebeck/Red Hook area.....and WBPM, with that terribly weak signal down south, did VERY WELL up north. I do think, given time, they will shave some of PDH's listenship....I don't think they are out to set the world on fire.........but KUDOS TO THAT STATION. I think they are awesome....

It beats everybody else's no-themed all-automation weekends

At least they're doing SOMETHING that attempts to engage a listener.

Yah, the started the station on a low budget, and it took some time and some tweaking, but the music mix is better. Sorry, I gotta switch stations when Turner's show comes on tho...other than that pretty good listening!!!

This is like the 12th attempt in 25 years to "hurt" PDH with some form of "almost a rock station". Won't happen.
Its quite unlikely that anyone on Pendall Road knows or cares what 92.9 is doing.

So true.

The people who've hurt WPDH the most are in Atlanta.

Ha...I was warned that pretty much anything said on this message board would be somethng negative.....someone always trying to stir the pot. To those of you who disagreed with me...did you happen to see the ratings? If so, do you understand any of what you were reading? If you read my post at all, you'd have understood that I didn't say they were out to demolish WPDH...no one could ever do that...as long as there are men over 35 who still listen to the radio........and don't listen to satellite. But WBPM did, IN FACT, take some of PDH's listeners..........and I don't care what the people on PENDELL Road think.....or what they care about. Honestly, they should take a closer look at their country station. Now that station is begging for some attention. Once again...........KUDOS to WBPM for taking a chance and to their success. They are not trying to set the market on fire...their signal is far too weak, but you can bet your ass that when I'm driving north of Poughkeepsie........right up as far north as Albany, my dial will be set to 92.9.
And as far as it being the "12th" attempt to hurt WPDH.....Country did take a swipe at WPDH...although I'm not a fan of Country....that format takes a stab at classic rock naturally in any market.

So, the stone thrower isn't the negative one??? Actually I think most people have been very positive in this thread.

No one said "demolish"...but "hurt" was your word. My point is congratulations to WBPM, but they really didn't "hurt" PDH at all.
Their impact is minimal, and formatically probably too close to a dominant station in their market, IMHO.
And no one mentioned country. There have been about a dozen attempts at some form of ROCK in the past couple of decades
that have attempted to substantially cut WPDH's audience, none have succeeded so far.
