I HATE TO ADMIT IT

As excited as I am that we have some new blood on the radio. 97.1 the "River" or Fox 97 for us oldtimers, it is quickly becoming repetitive. I have listened to it for hours on end, and they play the same songs.

Why oh why can't they dig deeper in to the well? It does remind me of the old WFOX circa 1975, they just need to beef it up some. This does have the potential to be an outstanding "Classic" rocker. I still prefer it over Dave or 96.

Those who are excited about "The River" must not have listened to Mix 105.7 when it first came on the air a few years ago. Clear Channel did the excact same thing, going jockless and no commercials for awhile, the added both as time went on. The playlist sounds excactly what Mix had, and we all know the fate of that station. The TV commercials are even similar to what Mix ran. I guess Cox has a short memory, or at least they think Atlanta radio listeners tastes have changed over the past few yeas....I think not.

I agree with you, and where did the "River" moniker come from? WFOX call letters are unique, they should have just said the new "Fox971"

Ditto. I've turned it on numerous times since the flip and seem to constantly hear Boston every time I turn it on. Honestly, the best mix I hear on the radio right now for those of us who enjoy classic rock is still on Newnan's 98.1.

This is Cox Radio. They are using their 300-song template. That's what they do and what you say won't change that.

There's a reason they're calling it Classic "HITS." I've been listening quite a bit, and everything I've heard was a hit back in the day. This is good for someone like me who enjoys the music they're playing but doesn't know a lot of the deeper cuts. I'm willing to bet that's the audience they're going for...the ones who want to hear the hits from the past.

Fox97's songs were great...the first 500 times you heard them. There's no way a station with such a small playlist and no currents can pull in decent numbers. I honestly think Bob Neil is just throwing something against the wall and hoping enough of it sticks to steal a point or two away from Lite.
B-98 is his pride and joy and he'll gladly sacrifice 97's signal to save it.

Lite is targeted to women. Classic Hits stations typically attract more men than women.

Ive said before, I will say it again and again, The River Rocks. Dave and 96 are two stations that are old tired and wasted. 96 only plays crap, Dave is not classic rock, therefore cannot be considered.<P ID="signature">______________

They will eventually replace DAVE's 2.5 with their 2.5. 96Rock will not be affected long term. The River is a format geared to the demands of the late 80's/early 90's listening public.
