I have a question about 1260 AM

How many stations in America on 1260 AM play classical music that can be received in California? If there aren't any classical stations on 1260 AM in America then I've got news for all that read this board. At around 2 AM this morning KOIT 1260 was playing classical music and is now back to the KOIT FM/AM simulcast! Anybody got the info as to what is going on? Is Classical music in the near future for 1260 AM?

Any chance that KOIT/1260 was off the air for transmitter maintenance, and K-Mozart was coming in through the ether?

KMZT's 7,500 watts beamed SSW from el Lay would make an interesting skywave occurence in the Bay Area. Stranger things have happened, but who knows?...one of the Entercom Elves may have been looking for an audio source overnight! Now wouldn't it be interesting to hear that Firebaugh FM on 12~Sixty?!

Remember that Los Angles is east of Reno, Nevada and it is all ocean from L. A. to San Francisco.

In Marin county around San Rafeal, KMZT is known to overpower KOIT at 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon even when the sunset is not till 6:00 p.m. and KOIT is still at 5,000 watts.

So since it overpowers KOIT up here somethings during the day when they are at 5KW, think about what it can do at night when KOIT is at only 1,000 watts.

My conclusion is that there was no change in the audio on KOIT, just a change in the signal within the atmostphere.

I was on Highway 99 just south of Elk Grove when I received the signal. It was most likely KMZT. Thanks for the info and I should have known it might be KMZT. But I will say the signal was very strong and clear. Good catch should have listened longer.

1260 AM should be bought by Nova M Radio, so Mike Malloy can be heard in San Jose area (Milpitas, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto [This will drive HP nuts,] Los Gatos, Los Altos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, Campbell, et al.)

960 AM signal is terrible...
