Now that we've had a little bit of time to reflect, just a quick query.

Does anyone miss Rick and Bubba now that they're gone (again)?

There was a lot of conjecture on the website about their "feeling the love" from the "Rick and Bubba Army", but it just seems as though most of Nashville is emitting a collective yawn.

They didn't make very good books most of the time when they were here, and there's no reason to believe a flip to another station would improve that much.

I'm not editorializing, just curious to see where you guys stand.

I probably don't have to tell you that this board is made up of largely current and former radio people and we are always going to vote for local talent on local radio.

That being said I'll be honest and say that there's still probably a place for them in this market. You have somewhat understated their books, as they did fairly well -- quite well in the WGFX years -- in the money demographics. They still had a large and fiercely loyal audience when WRQQ recently saw the golden opportunity to improve their lot. The conjecture it turns out was real, the Rick and Bubba show and the local Cumulus offices were deluged with calls. A blog was set up. But beyond that, fans really haven't a recourse for making their voices heard. As time passes, listeners are assuming the local army is defeated.

Now that the show has been on and left the larger signals, one of the smaller signals in the area could still do well with it. WNFN should have added it to their schedule in order to try to bring it out of the basement. A station in an outlying area wanting to gain new listeners would also do well to have picked it up. Since the duo work for Citadel, if no one else is going to air the show, WGFX would do well to air the overnight replay or some such -- it's gotta draw better than Fox Sports.

Do I miss Rick & Bubba. No. But then, like most reading this, I am too close to the situation. I know many loyal listeners who certainly do miss having the show here, and loyal listeners don't come easily. There's still a benefit to be had from airing the show in this market.
