I think if Muzak went that route and had a local station that played instrumentals years ago, they could have been contenders against Warm when PPM first came out.

Isn’t that basically what KWJZ was? I’m not a smooth jazz expert, but it seems like it’s jazz renditions of well known songs.
Wasn’t Karma Chameleon elevator music at one point. I wouldn't be shocked if certain Katy Perry, Maroon 5, and Ed Sheeran songs are elevator music now.

I’ve always wanted to listen to “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran played in the style of Chuck Mangionie.
I don't think Bad Habits is elevator music rn but Thinking Out Loud might be. It probably will be in the next 5-10 years.
“Bad Day” would be a good elevator music song, except if it was playing after someone got fired….
Daniel Powter... probably has been already elevator music in the 2010's...
I don’t think elevator music would work cause I think that most people would only listen to it in elevators.
