I Heard A Rumor

That WBCN's Toucher & Rich were making light of the unfortunate accidental death of the woman in Sacramento? That sound effects like when Mario dies in the video game were being played?

I cannot confirm this. But, if it did happen...beyond classless.

There's nothing funny about that situation.

It would be disappointing. The few times I've heard Toushie and Rick, they haven't been classless, simply dull.

this is exactly what I'm talking about when I reach back to the days of great radio - Tommy Hadges, Buffalo, Charles. The worst thing Charles did was paint with his magic marker on the wrong side of the only ABBEY ROAD CD in the U.S.A. (they imported it and it was rendered useless, or so the story goes), or Charles allegedly telling people to log him in their Arbitron book...another urban legend. But that's funny stuff.

Entercom's reckless behaviour hardly serves the public. My opinion is they should lose ALL their licenses after that stunt. What's worse, that woman's death or the Janet Jackson nipple eruption?

The Plaintiff rests.

Um...Joe. There are so many things I would debate you on this, but it's already been well stated on the Sacramento board, that part of this discussion belongs over there.

We're talking about Toucher & Rich's alleged mocking of this tragedy. And for once, I'll agree with something you've said. The WBCN of yesteryear would never have made a joke about this. They would've done a fundraiser to help defray medical costs.

If the WBCN of today did allow that bit to happen, it's disappointing to be euphemistic.

Joe you have got to get off of the "what Charles Ken or Mark would have done" bus. Would you like the truth? they had no competition, they did not HHAVE to work nearly as hard as personalities today have to work to make a dent or even be heard. All they had to contend with was perhaps one other station in the format WCOZ etc. Jocks today are competing with every other sttation on the dial since the walls have come down and the stigma of listening to more than one style of music is gone, so they're competing with the rock stations, the hip hop stations etc. They're competing with CABLE which didnt exist in the golden years of Charles, the internet whhich didnt exist when Charles was the king, the IPOD, Video games/PS2, PS3, Wii, PSP, XBOX. Hand Held devices, cell phones that play music, Sattelite radio, HD radio,... the day of the dj just competing against other dj's is gone. These guys are competing against every other media outlet in the broadband digital world we live in. i would think a cable big wig like yourself would understtand that better than the rest of us since you have posted things to the effect that you were on par with Leno and Letterman ::) by the reach of your cable access show. Charles didnt have to pull such stunts because he had a much easier time when he was current, there it's been said.

Toucher and Rich, did they make fun of the woman's death? if so yes it's stupid and pretty tasteless. But i will be honest about this too, it's not so horrible!. It's a current event and they are being paid for their take on current events etc. They didn't kill the woman, they're entitled to handle it however they see fit. Maybe they're tasteless but that doesnt make them wrong for commenting even if it is in a less than sensitive way about it. Would any of us? probably not but we're also not trying desperateely to be noticed in a town with a history of larger than life personalities, where they're not lighting any fires yet. That doesnt make them horrible guys, just desperate.

Charles had to compeat against LSD and free love. I'd like to see Toucher & Rich do that. :D

I was listening to O&A this morning (OK I had a weak moment) During one of the sweepers for T&R they played the clip with Mario. Yes it is classless.

Unfunny. Unentertaining.

I applaud this brilliant radio and look forward to more of these antics.

Toucher and Rich all the way, that's what I say!

Hey Cue I didn't hear that one, what exactly was the clip?.

I heard Toucher & Rich talk about the womens death and they said "Ok honey, come say goodbye to Mommy.. but stay away from the deep end of the casket" Tasteless? Yes Funny? To A Point Attenion Grabbing? yes
Thats what they are paid for boys and girls.

Revolting. As stated, Entercom's reckless behaviour hardly serves the public. CBS wanting to get in on this tasteless act is revolting.

Made me turn the dial. I never listened to them at AAF. By the sounds of it, I'm not upset I missed it.

They were at WAAF? I think you're confused. Aren't they something the hack from Vegas put together?

Tower..

It was something on the lines of "What did the woman who died sound like when she died?" Then they played the "dying" sound from Mario Brothers.. (I'm not exact on what they said, but it is the basic idea)

Lucy.. I was referring to O&A. Sorry if I caused confusion.
