I Heard This on the Radio

Driving through Mississippi on Tuesday, I heard the following:

"At home, at work, or on your tractor, it's Wizard 106, North Mississippi's country leader."

Millman, are you programming them?

Ya got me Roddy. It's all in preparation for when I take over 92.9 in July of 2010.

"At home, out of work, or on your fifth visit to the blood bank, it's the NEW 92.9 Radio Atlanta, the leader in credit crunch depression radio."

Wizard 106? What were you listening to, WKKK?

It is Mississippi... :(

IIRC: The leader of The Klan is called The Grand Imperial Wizard. The “Wizard” has a suggestion of The Klan which a lot of older Southerners would pick up. I do not think FCC will allow 3 K’s in your calls together. Three things could be happening. #1This might be a political statement. #2This station is being run by a very young innocent person. #3 This is someone not from The South. I hope #2 or#3 is true. I know the “political correct” crowd sometimes gets a little carried away but there is no excuse for The Klan!

Very insightful. I hadn't thought of that. If it's a political statement, maybe the station thinks calling itself that will attract listeners. Like a previous poster said, the station knows its audience (although the tractor thing is likely a joke).

There is a KKKJ/105.5 Jammin 105.5 in Merrill, OR and KKKK/1580 The Big Money Station in Colorado Springs, CO. Those are the only station in the US with at least 3 consecutive K's in a set of call letters.
