I HIGHLY doubt this will include Greenville.

IHeart plans local news on all of it's 32 stations. At least that's what this release says. Anyone want to bet that Atlanta will be recording Greenville updates?

LOL, I wonder if 1440 (or 660 for that matter) even has dedicated studio facilities at the iHeart facility downtown? Nothing has ever been live on it to my knowledge since they’ve owned it. Then again, 102.5, 104.9, and 92.5 are canned or automated so there’s plenty of available studio space. Heck, WSSL is voice tracked outside of Ellis and Bradley.

It looks like someone is actually renting the old WQOK studio at the 1440 transmitter site, not sure what for.

None of the iHeart stations in Greenville-Spartanburg or Charlotte for that matter fit the urban or ethnic format. Perhaps they will syndicate to another station which targets a Black audience. Although changes are coming to iHeart's 96.1 in Charlotte with the departure of Ace and TJ, but it is expected to remain Hit Music format.

The only reason BIN is on in Greenville is that iHeart had an AM signal with nothing of any substance on it. It was a corporate decision so they can claim they are in X number of markets with BIN. If they REALLY cared about BIN in Greenville- Spartanburg, they would put it on one of their big stations' HD channels, too. They have not.

At least iHeart has something on their HD channels (even if it’s crap like lullabies on WMYI-HD2). Do any of the Audacy stations have HD channels that aren’t used to relay to translators? I don’t think WROQ or WYRD even have any.

Summit is pretty cool with 107.3, you basically get 4 stations in one anywhere you can get a lock on the 107.3 signal, way outside of the range of 99.5 or 98.5. I don’t think 98.1 is even in HD.

All of Summit's also relay translators.

They do use WJMZ’s bandwidth wisely, considering half of their cluster is fed from it. It’s nice to get Awesome 99.5 everywhere now I go now that I have a HD radio in the car. I wonder if the 94.1 translator even helps WHZT any. Their signal has issues in Greer and Taylors and the 94.1 signal is non-existent.

It's supposed to help WHZT in Spartanburg County, since 98.1 is too far away. The translator is at the 103.3 site to keep it within WJMZ's protected contour (ideally it would be closer).
