Thttp://www.radio-info.com/sections/2-breaking-news/news_items/8332-a-case-of-sabotage-as-a-tower-is-toppled-in-northeastern-georgia

This story should scare any body in the business. Just think how many towers are out in fields where there is no security. This also might be a “practice run” for someone else. Remember a couple of the 911 guys had flown around North Ga.

The ELF environmental terrorists have knocked down towers in some locales. Then again, some kid with radical dreams and some heavy equipment could simply be getting his jollies and trying to be cute by blaming it on the ELF morons.

I've never seen a tower fail that way accidentally... for it to fall in line pretty much requires the loss of a guy or two on one side. A failure due to ice or wind or a combination pretty much always causes it to collapse on itself and fold up in a metal mess. A pair of bolt cutters would be sufficient to take guys of that size apart very quickly. Particularly a station running an automated satellite format, by the time someone gets to the studio, and sees the failure, and then gets to the transmitter, the perp is long gone.
