I JUST CANCELED MY 2 XM SUBSCRIPTIONS!

After being a loyal subscriber for about 8-10 years I finally pulled the plug. When I called to cancel the young lady asked why. I told her 1) I listen mostly to the 70's on 7. Major Matt sucks. He replays the same old tired bits and sound effects over and over. 2) Their playlist. With the vast amount of music available from the 70s, there is no need for that much repitition. If I wanted that, i'd have stayed with regular radio. 3) Short versions of songs. I told her that since the channel was commercial free, there are no time limits and there was no excuse for not playing long versions/album cuts, live versions etc., etc.

She remained quiet and then said "OK, i'll process your cancelation, please give me a moment". After about 5 minutes of silence she said that 1 radio was stopped and the other would be stopped by midnight. She then asked if there was anything else she could help me with. I laughed and said..yanno, after being a subscriber for so many years, i'm totally amazed that you did absolutely NOTHING to try to keep me subscribed. I said I wasn't looking for freebies or anything like that, but in this day and age when a long term subscriber/customer is leaving, you try to keep them. Dead Silent until I said thank you very much, I guess with that reaction I don't feel so bad canceling because it appears that I never ment much to your company.
:-\ Business must be that good to not care at all.

Well, the reasons you gave for canceling were issues that the rep could do nothing about. Now, had you said you were canceling due to a broken radio, reception issue, something like that, then you might have been offered something.

But if you don't like the content, all the CSR can do is say bye.

That might not be such a bad thing really. If I decide to cancel I just want to cancel and don't need a CSR trying to talk me out of it. I should cancel but local radio where I live leaves a lot to be desired.

I really wish that they DID care about the music programming, like they did in Lee Abram days. Why doesn't XM/Sirius mail you a survey where you CAN discuss your issues with the repetitive "all hits - no depth" radio where it's NOT like the 70's where they DID play all 40 songs on the chart, including cross-over country, novelty, pop music, etc...? That's why I want, is my 2005 XM decades playlist back!
I've called ALL my subs BUT one - and I keep that only for "Escape" the last output for beautiful music while working on your bills.

Glad to hear from someone else who listens to Escape. Nice format when you just want to hear some lush instrumental music. Too bad that format is gone from FM.

The CSRs never did, even back in the days when XM was an actual programmer. After all, what can they do about what's on the radio?

And survey? You want a survey? These people who now run the corpse of XM KNOW what you want to listen to, they don't need no steenkin' survey! No kidding here, they've decided what's going out and it's the same 40 songs over and over and over.

Jeez....I'd love to have XM back!

I just let my expire... it's like hundreds of channels and nothings on.... I just don't need it. My Itouch serves me better, I like every song in my playlist.. LOL

But it never pleasantly surprises you with anything you haven't heard before, right?

I can't cancel now that 60s on 6 sounds good again! And I'd miss Octane as well (no good Rock stations in my area).

XM has the worst customers reps I've ever encountered, half of them can hardly speak English. I had a problem 6 moths ago with billing and I made so many calls to straighten it out it's unbelievable, they never really fixed it either, it was like talking to the three stooges from India.
The only reason I kept it was for Little Steven's Underground garage. I'd dump it in a second if it weren't for that show and a few others.

Yep! I remember how annoying it was to deal with CS when my original Gen 1 SKYFI finally died and I had to swap to my current radio, the ONYX. And after all that bull, I found out later (by looking at my credit bill) it costed me $15 to do the swap (a fee I was never informed of!). Yes, bad customer service!

I think that Siri/XM totally underestimates how much the niche channels make for rabid paying loyal listeners (just like Star Trek fans - perhaps only a moderate number, but fiercely loyal and help promote their cause). Stations like "Little Steven's Underground garage", and "Escape", and "Cinemagic" are the type of stations that will keep us paying $12.95 a month forever; but if you screw with us and them away, you will endure the "Wrath of Kahn".

Still can't understand with the Hispanic population explosion in the US, why Sirius dumped all of XM's Mexican music stations but one? Did they think they would return on our 'free' channels that we've still never received??
