First off, I live in So. California, not New York. I grew up in New York and have always followed the doings of radio in New York. I've been following this story closely since I read about the change last Friday. I have not heard Jack in New York. I have however listened to Jack in Los Angeles. I like Jack. I like the music on Jack. I'm a late 40 something guy. I grew up with WABC, WMCA, WWDJ, WPLJ and WNEW FM. I've spent quite a bit of time listening to Jack. It's the first station I'm not bored with since WNEW FM of the 70's. It may not be my "POD" but no radio station will ever be my "POD". In fact, most radio stations insult me with their TIGHT formats and endless repetition. I have no use for most radio stations. I love oldies but hate oldies radio. I love rock but hate most rock stations. If I am going to listen to music on the radio, I want variety, just like I have on my "POD. I get that with Jack. I don't even miss the DJ's since they have become nothing but card readers, repeating inane stations tag lines. Tradition music stations are stinking up the airwaves. Even CBS FM was a shell of itself and was much more like a cookie cutter oldies station with the personality striped out. If stations are going to strip away the personality, why have DJ's at all. Heck, DJ's don't even give song titles anymore. I'd rather just have good music with out the chatter. The change I'd make at Jack is with the positioner statements in between songs. I don't like them. I do like the variety of the music tho, and I'll keep listening to Jack.
