I Love Format Changes

So, LITE is JACK. I would love to hear what everyone thinks...This will hurt the Point, KKLZ, Mix...and, in my opinion, the BIGGEST loser is Star. What a surprise Beasley caught with their d***s in their hands again...Do they actually do anything over there? For years they have had opportunities with Star and KKLZ and they stick with the tired, boring status quo.

Winners???? Sunny? Infinity? Thoughts?

I agree with most of what everyone is saying.

Biggest winner: Sunny! It wouldn't surprise me if no one goes AC to take Lite's place. I remember in the late 80s when most markets (including Las Vegas) had a glut of ACs, 4 or 5 per market was common. Today the opposite situation exists, one AC per market is the norm and no matter how good that AC does, no one goes after it. I guess AC is not considered a "fun" format. Well it will be very fun for KSNE as they rise to #1 and stay there for years to come.

Winning cluster: Clear Channel: Sunny and KWNR will be #1 and #2 in some combination as long as they are both format exclusive. Plus, Jack will take away more from Beasley, Lotus, and even Infinity stations than the formats Clear Channel has in Vegas.

Biggest loser:Star!!! I said on here a few times that "by not going Jack, Beasley is gambling that nobody else will". Well they just lost the gamble. I will never understand why KSTJ didn't get Jacked up while they had the chance. I agree with everyone who says this will destroy Star (a station that was already having ratings trouble as it was) As I monitor Jack I can't help but notice how much 80s they play. It's like a Star with more spice and variety.

Star should surrender instantly, but I could easily see them sticking with 80s for the next few months as their ratings drop to horrific levels. I know this is one of the harshest things I have ever said in the several years I posted on this board (and the old "Southwest Radio" board). I have nothing against the staff of KSTJ, I would probably like them all. But, I see radio as a chess match and Jack has already knocked Star right out of the game.

Another loser:the new Simmons move-in that was supposed to go Jack. This isn't Simmons fault, the station isn't ready yet and Infinity beat them to the punch.

Sure

If the term means playing anything they want. Maybe they should pull out those old Billboard charts from the 80's & 90's and play some some long lost Top 100.

Milli Vanilli, Guys Next Door, Jane Child, Expose, Pet Shop Boys just to name a few.

Re: Sure

Yeah... I agree. I like the idea of more Classic Alternative (Dramarama, The Smiths, The Ramones) a little bit of today's CHR/Pop (Destiny's Child, Baby Bash, Linkin Park), and a tad bit of today's country (Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts)

The Jack in New York City pretty much plays rock and 80s pop. That is the base of the music. It is an interesting mix, but even Jack tends to repeat. How many times do we have to hear "Rock Lobster"!<P ID="signature">______________
