I love listening to 98.7 KLUV ... Why is that?

Quick Rant:

Every time I am in Dallas, like I was last week, I always tune to 98.7 KLUV and HD2 for KLUV Oldies. Its my second favorite radio station to listen to outside of Austin/SA.

Isn't there a station in Austin that is close to KLUV, which plays classic hits from 1964-1979? No, there isn't. And I don't count True Oldies 92.5, because their playlist is all scattered. UGH! The only stations that come close to KLUV is Magic 95.5 and 103.5 Bob FM ... sometimes.

What attracts me to KLUV is their playlist. Listening to KLUV's playlist which features big music artist from the 60s and 70s, is a refreshing feeling, and relaxes me if I feel stressed out or angry on some days. According to KLUV's website, "KLUV classic hits plays the music chosen by the listener, and what listeners want to hear." Today, I heard "Heaven Must be Missing an Angel" by Tavares. This is one of my favorite songs, which I NEVER hear on Oldies 92.5 or even 103.5 Bob FM. Because Bob FM is so caught up with playing Taylor Swift and Toni Basil three times a day! Give it to me, Bob! yawn!

Secondly, what attracts me to KLUV is probably the voiceover/announcer... who is the same voiceover for KVUE News. I dont know his name, but I like hearing him speak excitedly while on KLUV, rather than with a serious tone at the beginning of the KVUE newscasts.

Great job KLUV! Someone will pass this to Dallas forum.

Lets get to work Austin Radio! :)

Austin shoul

Good luck with that. CC just gutted the classic country program on KVET FM. It seems anything before 1970 no longer qualifies as music.

i just went to thier site, it seems they play pretty good mix of music, do they play good classic rock (no metal, no hard rock) example: eric clapton, the who, bob segar, pretenders, eagles, lynrd skynrd if so they would one of the best stations.

First of all.. Bob FM is not a Classic Hit Station. It is a Veriety Hit Station. the play anything form the 70's right up to Taylor Swift. They are like Jack Fm is in Dallas. If I remember right, it Magic not an AC station. No doubt K-LUV plays great music. I guess Austin doesn need a statin like that.

I like KLUV too, I like my station better but, of course I would lol :D
personally I like KVNS 1700 way better than KLUV. but both are good stations.

K-Luv has already cut most of the 60's out of its playlist. It plays, at most, two 60's tunes an hour. Peter Z was interviewed not long ago and said something to the effect of, "Some of the older songs are timeless, and we play those, but we had to make the decision to own the 40-54 demo, and you can't do that with a 60's-based playlist."

In other words, there's hope for such a station in Austin. Limited hope, but hope nonetheless.

Also, I believe the KLUV and KVUE voice guy is Charlie Van Dyke.
