I Love Lucy

Does anyone have any idea when Season 6 will be available on DVD and the final season which was Season 7?

Season 6(the last season of I Love Lucy) will be out on DVD May 2nd. There was no Season 7 unless you are talking about The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour which was a separate show altogether. You might also be thinking that "We Love Lucy" which was episodes of The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour(separated into 2 parters) was season 7 which again it is not.

I thought the show ran for 7 seasons???

I have all 5 seasons and waiting for the 6th. I hope this one contains episodes regarding the trip to Florida where an unknowing escape convicted murder takes Lucy and Ethel to Florida to meet Fred and Ricky and Little Ricky. Also what about an episode in which George Reeves makes an appearance as "Superman" at Little Ricky's Birthday Party. All this happening and then finally move to a house in Connecticut happened all in Season 6???

Yes,all of these episodes will be on there. And all of these episodes were from season 6 including the episode with Bob Hope where Lucy tries to get him to open Ricky's new club,Little Ricky driving everybody crazy with the new drum Lucy and Ricky give him,and all of the episodes where they move to Connecticut will be on there for sure.

Late Spring/Early Summer...I hear like the 2nd week of May.

Also Columbia House Subscribtions have been discontinued. Over the years Columbia House Subscribers got DVD's of 6 to 7 episodes every 6 weeks and completed each season a few months before release on DVD to retail. But Columbia House ended distribution of these last Spring shortly before Season 5 became available. The reason is due to availability of many classic TV shows in complete seasons rather than monthly installments.

Now Columbia House will simply offer complete seasons in the manner they have offered DVD Movies and before that VHS movies. The revieving 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 episodes on one DVD every 6 weeks is no longer as viable as it used to be.

Re: I Love Lucy-George Reeves

One of the most memorable episodes of “I Love Lucy” is when
”Superman” appeared at Little Ricky’s birthday party. Yet actor George Reeves was never credited on screen, or by the show’s announcer for his appearance. Why is that? Anyone have the answer?

Bart Andrews, in his book "Lucy & Ricky & Fred & Ethel," says
the decision was made to write the episode in such a way that
adults would know it was an actor on a personal-appearance tour,
but so as not to disappoint children who might believe that Superman
was real, Reeves was always referred to as Superman.

Even so not to mention Reeves at all seems to me to be a professional slap in the face. I mean after almost every episode of "I Love Lucy" the names of the guest actors, many of them unknown to the general public, were mentioned by the announcer of the show. Reeves might have portrayed "Superman" on TV, but he was, at the time, a popular personality who deserved the same consideration as his peers. The least "I Love Lucy" executives could have done was include Reeves name on list of credits at the end of the show, if they didn't want to announce his name.

Keith Thibodeaux, who played "Little Ricky," has said in interviews, it always miffed him a bit that he was never credited in the "Lucy-Desi Hour" shows that followed "I Love Lucy" run.

He was going under the professional name "Richard Keith" at the time. I never realized this till he said it, but the opening of the hour shows say "And Little Ricky." Sure enough they don't credit him at all<P ID="signature">______________

You're right! Thibodeaux's name was never mentioned during both the "I Love Lucy" show and later the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour." I wonder if Thibodeaux ever realized any revenue from his years on both programs? I highly doubt it considering that rerun residuals have only been around for the past two decades or less.

Despite all the stories to the contrary, in fact, George Reeves was credited on the episode. I have a very poor quality tape copy of a print of the episode as it originally aired. During the closing credits the voice-over announcer credits George Reeves, star of the Superman series, as having been on the show. When the credits were redone for syndication the voice-over for this episode was elminated. As you know, the Lucy closing credits never showed guest cast members visually, it was always with a voice-over. Although many syndicated episodes retained the voice-over, some did not. I am hoping that when Season 6 is released it will have the voice-over restored at the end of the Superman episode as was done on other episodes in the previously released DVD seasons.
