I love the Vegas radio dial!

I was in Vegas the past week and being a radio geek, I had my portable HD radio with me. I'm from New Jersey, between the NYC and Philly markets. I only truly enjoy 1 station there, and it's a dance leaning CHR. Every other station is just bland cookie cutter formats. There's a new station coming in NYC on Monday that used to be a Family Radio station, but I doubt I will listen to it.

I filled up all 10 presets with stations I like in Vegas.

1. Jelli 96.7 - Much better signal than 94.5 The Vibe. I like its interactive dance format and it reminds me of Pulse 87, my favorite
2. My 93.1 - A Clear Channel CHR, at least they pitch up their music.
3. Mix 94.1
4. Hot 97.5 - I like its audio processing
5. 98.5 KLUC
6. Kool 102.3 - I like that this oldies station isn't afraid to play 50s and early 60s
7. 104.3 Now FM - Good mixshows
8. 104.7 K-Jewel - My second favorite, love its soft AC format
9. 105.7 the Oasis - Jammin Oldies is alive!
10. Sunny 106.5 - This is how mainstream AC should sound musically. I hate AC stations that try to sound like CHR stations. More Rod Stewart, less Katy Perry.

Seek down from 1. 96.3 KKLZ. A second oldies station!

Not too many stations in HD. I wish more stations here had HD because the multipath sounds bad. Tropo is almost non existant with the terrain and dry climate.

As someone who has worked in Las Vegas radio for many years, it's nice to hear someone say something nice about what we're doing. For the most part, we have smart and talented people in the market who put their heart and soul into radio. I would put some of our Vegas stations up against any major market's stations. In the current climate of consolitdation and voicetracking, I give a lot of credit to most of the Vegas operators who have managed to keep our stations live and local.

Nick, no honorable mention for The Q? They have a playlist that is more expansive than any "variety hits" station, IMO. I agree with you on K-Jewel, a format we lack here in Philly.
Also, I enjoy The Oasis as well.

Radio punk, count me as another fan of Vegas radio! Sure, last time I was out was Jan -Feb 2005, but I keep up with it.
