I-Man to replace Don & Roma at WLS?

Hearing this from a couple of sources that WLS will flip mornings on the launch of the new Imus show on WABC, NY.

Can anyone confirm?

Who are your sources? It seems to me, if they are reliable sources, THEY would be one the ones to confirm this. Rumors are easy to start. Facts, just the facts.

I can confirm that this has never been discussed....and is not going to happen.

Nice rumor though. I would love to know your sources.

Why do people make stuff up all the time and stick it on message boards?

Phil--

It's been bandied about on various boards that Ron Kuby's
"early" termination came from above your level, that it was
a Citadel corporate decision.

Care to comment? Confirm? Deny? Dance around? ;)
Get Farid to give us the scoop? ???

Farid's no dummy, to his credit, he took bought inventory insurance on Citadel's New Orleans properties. When Katrina knocked out his stations, his commercial losses were covered. I wonder if he took out a corporate life insurance policy on Imus, America's best looking corpse.

Have you ever seen me dance? Not a pretty sight. I say this without fear of contradiction. This was 100% my decision. Why would I leave a talk show host ON THE AIR for a month after he knows he is being terminated? I have never done it before, nor will I start now. Curtis is different. He is staying.

Where, then, will Imus land? Hard to believe THAT hasn't been discussed by Citadel brass...especially among its own station group. Sounds silly to put a hot target on one station, while equally admitting to a national syndication to be handled by ABC Radio. Rumors about KABC LA are ripe and so is a return to Boston. Sounds to me that Farad had designs in this long plan long before consulting with Mr. Boyce.

Imus has never been much of a ratings grabber outside of the northeast. I would seriously doubt that Citadel would bet the farm in LA (or Chicago) on the Donald;

And Don Wade has another year on his contract. If Imus is going on in Chicago it won't be for at least another year.

Next year, if Don and Roma are still going strong in AM Drive, would 'LS risk losing them to WIND, which they nearly did in their previous contract negotiations?

Just three additional thoughts that were shared in the original discussion:
  • Imus is more well known outside NYC than ever due to his public beatings. Iritating Jesse Jackson can make him a hero with the Chicago right leaning audience. He might be huge with midwestern, white, conservative male listeners.
  • Don & Roma stayed off the air for ten weeks during an election year last time their contract came up and cost the station big money and long term relationships with clients and listeners. Imus would be quite a bargaining chip to have on the table.
  • Farid is all about the Benjamins. He knows what Don & Roma can do as their audience continues to retire into their sunset years. What could Imus pull in nationally and locally that they can't?

Maybe it's just a rumor. Still, there is some madness to the method.

If Don and Roma were to go: 'LS would be smart to have a talk format that Lujack fits, instead of Imus. He sounded real good a couple months ago on Roe Conn's afternoon show.

Then, they both can compare cowboy hats.
