I must have been sleeping.

So please tell me.... when did WBZ get rid of their 5PM Newscast? Honest to God I just went to turn it on now and all I see is Dr. Phil. Let's see how dumb I look when people tell me that WBZ hasn't had News at 5 PM since 1993. LOL. Seriously though... I had no clue. How long has it been?

Hahaha...its been at least 3 or 4 months by now. They are trying to emulate sister station KYW in Philly who did the same, and went from 3rd to 1st in the ratings.

Sadly...not working out so well for 'BZ. Personally, I think it only confuses viewers more.

The schedule change occurred June 2004, moving JUDGE JUDY to 3pm, the news to 4pm, and DR. PHIL to 5pm.

Yes, it's been more than a year now. Word is, Dr. Phil is doing relatively well at 5PM, but still coming in 2nd or 3rd in timeslot (allthough the ratings are better than the station had with news in that spot)... The 6pm news still gets horrible ratings though... Dr. Phil fans switch over to watch Natalie on 5.

Speaking of ratings... in radio there are a couple of websites that show radio ratings for Boston, Providence etc. markets... are there any sites that show local tv ratings?

Not quite first, but they did get a huge boost. In Philly, KYW beats WCAU's five o'clock newscast with Dr. Phil, that's correct. But in all time slots, the ancient and mighty Action News on WPVI (complete with the original "Move Closer to Your World") takes the top spot, though KYW is beginning to threaten.

All this for a station ('PVI) that just started using a green screen in its weather segments only a couple of months ago!<P ID="signature">______________

Hmmm. Every once and a while someone will post them on BTVN.net...otherwise, not so much.

This past Tuesday (August 2nd), WBZ-4 did pre-empt "Dr. Phil" to broadcast breaking-news coverage (much of it a simulcast of Canada's CTV Newsnet) of the Toronto plane crash. There was also some local anchoring by Jack Williams and Sara Underwood. BTW, Jack Williams was excellent.

BTW, Jack Williams was excellent.
----------------

Jack is always excellent. If they could just bring back the rest of the Dream team from the 80's WBZ might bounce back to where it once was.
