Try WULM Springfield(near Dayton)OH 1600 kHz which boasts a 2600 song play list from the 1950s up through the early 1970s.www.1600wulm.net

Also 1160 WDJO,Cincinnati which just got up and going in March www.oldies1160.com

It's not about what we think "sounds good."

Not a good game plan! Asking everybody on this board to supply you with lists from "good" oldies stations is not the way to go. Assuming you don't have unlimited resources, someone who's programmed the tested winners is invaluable to you. I'm very familiar with what WWI does, but I don't work for them. The researched music of Westwood One's Oldies Channel really is one of the better researched birdfed formats out there. I'd say DON'T let the staff and the vocal minority who call in steer you the wrong way, but it's a bit late for that. If they're complaining, they're listening and not going anywhere. It's the listeners you DON'T hear from, the other 98%, you need to worry about. The bigger playlist concept sounds aggressive and kickass, but more tunes don't equal more tune-ins or even time spent listening. Aging demographics can kill oldies stations' appeal to advertisers. Playing "My Girl" everyday doesn't necessarily kill their appeal to listeners. If oldies isn't working now, You're better off aiming for a younger audience than messing around with oldies in some homegrown style.

The argument's already been all over this board many times before, but people's attention spans don't encompass everything, whether it's music or radio discussions. The old favorite themes keep popping up. It sounds like people in house or the owner's next door neighbor got to him or her, and another oldies station has already been set adrift.

No I'm just being sarcastic. Ric is also the WW1 Oldies PD which is why I brought him up. He is pretty good though. <P ID="signature">______________

Here you go

Option one is (if you know the music and just want some suggestions/ideas)

http://www.oldiesmusic.com/500.htm
http://www.oldiesmusic.com/ld500art.pdf

Option two - some lists here (Id do the graffiti one and tag on the 70s library)
http://www.radio-mall.com/#hit

Option three is calling up the people at Jones and ordering their oldies library and hiring one of their consultants to set it all up for you. Its not expensive.

I'd go the Jones route if I were you, but, whatever, your call.

I looked at these (especially the second PDF) and it seems obvious to me that there are relatively few voters, since a lot of obscure titles (such as The Raspberries' "Let's Pretend") that made the 500 list once in nine years, always ranked in the 400s, that couldn't possibly have gotten more than one vote.

However, at least for titles that had a cumulative rank of 500 or higher, this would be a solid list.

I'd probably buy those libraries but cross-reference against the lists above.

Re: Here you go

Just to make sure I understood, does Jones have a music library that can be programmed locally, or strictly 24/7 formats? Any idea on costs?<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Here you go

They have a music library that can be programmed locally. The libes is about 2k alone. You can hire them to consult you (for more) or do it yourself (for the 2k). Jones is more than just a satelite service.
