I need a tower

A buddy of mine is building a new station and needs a 1,000 foot tower anyone know what a tower this tall could cost? Anyone selling a tower?

If he could use a 750 ft tower, we have one we'll give away if he'll come take it down. The top 60-70 feet is a pole for an FM antenna. Includes a strobe lighting system! It's in NE MS.

Just a reminder, if you do take the tower down, be sure to update the FCC/FAA stuff so it is current.
We had a tower that went down in size below 200 ft and the tower lights where turned off because it's next to a lit tower, but years later an inspector wrote up an NOV because the paperwork was not updated.

Similarly if you switch from one type of lighting/marking, say a painted tower w/red lights to unpainted with day/night lights you need to do the same.

Leave it to the government to come up with such a bunch of BS. Too bad they don't go find real problems instead of stupid paperwork.

I think you'd have a hard time finding a pilot who'd agree with you that maintaining current and accurate records of what hazards to air navigation exist and how they're illuminated is either "BS" or "stupid paperwork."

And on a far more prosaic level, any potential tenant who might want to rent space on your tower is likely to find it through that ASRN database, so if it's not accurate, you're losing out on potential rental income from wireless providers and such.

Don't you realize that everything has to do with MONEY these days. If the FCC or any form of Gov't can come up with any way to Fine someone, they will do just that. It's all a racket to increase their bottom line and generate cash. If I'm wrong,...tell me.

In the case that I mentioned, there where no fines, they just wanted the data to be correct.

I'm surprised there wasn't some sort of fee associated with it.
