Is there anyone out there wants to spend some time with me so I can get up to speed on the Providence market. I need help and I need it fast. I am even willing to pay. I am looking for information on the radio market but just as importantly - the local politics. Let me know. [email protected]

Thanks in advance.

Local radio and local politics of the city. I am being transferred to providence to do a talk show and Ineed to get up to speed.

Not from Albany - very familiar with the market though. When I can say what station I will - but for now I have to keep it quiet. I am not trying to be secrative but you know how these things go.

When you "Can" say what station you are going to, we'll probably already know by then. You know how these things go. ;) Seriously... enjoy Providence. I hope you like it here.

If your in help I would say I know a lot on the scene here in Providence, which is going to get very good in the coming months with the race for Governor. You don't need to pay me, but keep me in mind for a Producer slot. Email is [email protected] Happy Holidaze...

Well we know you already have some knowledge of the Providence market if your associating WARL with stink. :p

Just referring to the previous post. I have no idea about WARL. Care to fill me in?

WARL began its life in the early 1950's as WARA, a 1000 watt station on 1320, licensed to Attleboro, MA.

From its birth, on through to the late 1980's.....the station's focus was on Attleboro, anda few communities surrounding it, and did a very nice job providing 'full-service' programming for the area, with programs hosted my mostly local people.

The beginning of the end came in the late 1980's, when 1320 recieved a power increase to 5000 watts, both day and night. Slowly....the station began to lose its focus on its COL and surrounding communities, and instead began to see itself as a Providence rimshotter.

A few ownerships later......and MANY MANY formats later...1320 finds itself a sad, pathetic shell of its former self, as a bottom-feeder brokered-time station.

WARL is co-owned with 990-WALE. Believe it or not....WALE's story is even sadder. ;)

A story repeated so many times around the country. Stations need to remember their bread and butter and not think too big.
