I saw the "top story" tonight (4/15) and it was about some mistake at the Del County YMCA where a cat was accidentally put down. Now, while this is a sad story and had apparently happened before, is this really a story that should lead off a newscast at a time when the city is at an all time high crime rate? Seems pretty ridiculous to me.

Usually the news director follows the "if it bleeds, it leads" philosophy. With all the animal lovers in the world tho, a story about a family pet offed by bureaucrats was a safe bet. I guess you didn't see the huge national story about Molly the trapped black cat in New York City either. Enormous local TV and CNN story.

I agree news in general is bad. They seem to think they are doing a public service with their bs features like healthwatch. And the overhyped traffic and weather. I no longer watch news. I could care less. If a bomb comes our way you'll have to call me because I no longer pay attention. I hardly even read the papers. As long as my cd player works and the bar is open I dont care about anything.
