"i" Network Blows it Again

Sitcomsonline Just Announced more programming changes for the "i" network. Instead of dumping either more infomercials or Diagnosis Murder their dumping Green Acres in a few weeks to pick up AMEN. Meanwhile Welcome Back Kotter will be premire this Friday @ 7. And Growing Pains will premire in November at 8PM replacing Mama's Family which gets bounced to 6 replacing Bonanza.

Of all the shows you mention, Diagnosis Murder is the one that is the least worst.

Out of that crop, Green Acres is the only true "classic." Typical of i to pick their best show to drop - they have the "midas" touch with everything, don't they?

And, don't hold your breath for them to drop infomercials either. Too much money to be made there.

Informercials are the TV equivalent of the annoying telemarketing call. Only a tiny percentage of those who see or hear the pitch actually buy this stuff (for the sake of argument, let's call them the "idiots"). However, even if only 1 in 1,000 is an idiot - well the infomercial pays for itself. The snake oil salesman couldn't care less about the other 999 of us who hate the tactic because that 1 idiot ruins it for the rest of us. And, they make a huge profit from the 1 in 1,000 because the crap they sell is cheap and the profit margin is huge. Just like telemarketers.

Too bad we can't find the "idiots" and get them to stop watching the damn infomercials. Only then will they go away.

Could it be that Green Acres is getting play elsewhere? We have Green Acres on Channel 23 WWME-CA in Chicago. They run together. I can't tell you the last time I saw Growing Pains or Amen.

Perhaps those shows are seen in less markets so there is no competion in the same market?

Woo Hoo! Growing Pains. It will be intersting to see Kirk Cameron before he converted to Christianity.

It's kind of sad about Green Acres going off the air possibly without showing the last season or 2. My wish is that the I network could sign on like PAX did signing on at Noon(Central). I enjoyed the lineup in the afternoons with The Big Valley,Remington Steele,Scarecrow And Mrs. King,Promised Land,Eight Is Enough, among others. Hopefully the I network could work something out to sign on at Noon. There are so many shows from the Sony and Warner Brothers library to make a suitable lineup for the afternoons(Eight Is Enough and showing The Monkees and The Partridge Family on weekdays would be a start). But one thing for sure, the informercials have got to go.

They're never going to "get rid of" infomercials. They're easy money. And while the classic TV lineup is a vast improvement over the old Pax lineup, it still draws minimal ratings and (by TV standards) undesirable demographics.
