I Participated in a Radio Focus Group

A friend of mine who lives in Toronto calls the music mix you adore so much a: 'schizophrenic dumpster fire'.

I agree! CBC Music (f/k/a CBC Radio 2) is a mess! I can pick up CBE-FM from Windsor, ON at my house rather easily.

I am not sure what's worse - the bizarre mix of programing or the obnoxiously flat sounding audio processing.

I will say, CBC radio does give the impression of a college radio station (rather than a professional operation). Some of the programming is interesting, some of it isn’t. And it seems like they really want to feature programming around the clock that is intended to appeal to every possible group that you could think of.

The music hosts are very knowledgeable and generally sound charismatic behind the microphone. That's the one bright spot.

However, a station with opera programs on the weekend and Urban alternative music weeknights (essentially, weak-sauced hip hop) ain't my cup of tea. The horrible processing settings of my local station make most of the music, regardless of genre, sound incredibly flimsy.
