I see where the station at 98.7 is getting some new talent.

Should be interesting. They have no consistency there for there on air talent. I thought tom mitchell was really good guess he may head back to vegas now. And the guy coming in from texas will he be live or voice tracked i hope live. It wasn't that long ago they brought in richard blade for a regular air shift we shall see how long this lasts but i will say the music has improved. One of the problem with radio today is one of two things is if they try something or someone new they will either if it is not working not give it long enough or if it is not working not pull the plug soon enough but or if it is working pull the plug anyway. But i have to give the award for the most clueless people in radio to not cc but radio one!!!

Yep..

From All Access:

"CLEAR CHANNEL/LOS ANGELES VP/Operations and Modern AC KYSR PD MICHAEL MARTIN made some announcements today regarding the station’s on-air talent line up. While LISA FOXX will continue mornings from 5:30-10a and YVONNE VELAZQUEZ remains in middays, JOSH VENABLE, from KDGE (THE EDGE)/DALLAS will take over the 4-9p shift and KYSR’s Programming Coordinator, DARREN ROSE, joins the on-air team from 9p to Midnight.

Also at KYSR, GM CRAIG ROSSI has resigned. No replacement has been named.

Said MARTIN, "We're excited to have JOSH and the passion for music he'll bring. JOSH will take over ‘The Bad Ass 8 at Ocho’ and be a regular host for STAR Lounges and other specialty programming." Commenting on ROSE, MARTIN added, "In DARREN’s short time at 98.7 he’s proven to be extremely knowledgeable in the music and lifestyle of the 98.7 listener, making him a valuable asset. We’re excited to make him part of the On Air Team."

Personalities SUMMER and TOM MITCHELL will exit the station effective immediately.

"98.7 has gone through some significant and strategic music and imaging adjustments of late, and is now officially in format," continued MARTIN. "We are positioned to be one of the most exciting stations in the country. This talent line up will complete the sound, vibe and stationality, and our music pretty much speaks for itself. Keep your eye on 98.7 in 2008, ‘cuz we are about to rock LA!"

Check out that last paragraph-is this guy an IDIOT or what? He knows NOTHING about the english language! Stationality? What the HELL is that? Officially in format? HUH? Was it UNOFFICIALLY in format before?
'cuz? I thought that was street slang for a relative....

Dude....do you just have to find anything to be negative about? I've heard the term "stationality" a lot so it doesn't sound foreign to me. As far as being "officially in format" i would imagine he is making the statement that he is done tweaking with the format and this is where the station will live. The station has been through several configurations with a lot of speculation as to what it will do next (go more rock, more alt, younger, older, is it Hot AC, is it Alternative, etc).

In your post you put a "?" after "cuz".....what does that mean? Are you an idiot?

See how stupid a comment like that is? You probably won't.

Oops I forgot to capitalize my "I" in my post. I must be a goddam freak of nature.

This station has done poorly for the last 10 years.

It's best years were with Jamie, Frosty and Frank in the morning, followed by Jamie and Danny.

It needs to be blown up. Changing DJ's and adjusting music never fixes a bad format and station.

Star = Boring!

I just hope the corporate suits aren't allowed to touch the music. It's a shame the censoring they did to Star's wonderfully rebellious billboards. ::)

I find it very interesting that Josh and the other DJs have all of 7 seconds, maybe 4 times an hour, to express all their "passion for the music."

What happened to Charese? I read about Martin coming in, but thought she was staying.

I see that Cheap Channel has people doing double duty here.

Actually if you listen to Star you'll hear more and more breaks longer than the CC "7 second" norm. A P/T jock told me Martin came in and told them to throw all that out the window, still keep it tight but to focus more on "to the point content but not a stopwatch." He did the same thing when he was at Wild and Kmel supposedly. Some jocks know how to do it and some don't. I heard everyone who's ever worked with Martin knows he will give you enough rope to hang yourself but if you abuse it he'll pull you back tighter than ever.

How about putting more money into Jock salaries and getting top of the line talent to make a station work? Crazy thought isn't it?

I agree with you that those were the good DJs/morning show hosts of STAR..
and by the way, it was Jamie, JACK, and STENCH.

I sure do miss "mistress mondays" ahah..

Never really cared for Jamie, at least when she was with Danny. Could have been the combo.

Thanks, Itwasntme, for the info. I haven't been listening as much since the mid September changes. I really don't care for most of the new playlist. But I will give a listen to hear the difference regarding DJs' on air time.

BTW, I want to wish all of you Los Angeles rimembers a very Happy New Year, and good listening in 2008! It's been terrific posting with you this year!

Sincerely,
Kathy Cleaning My House in Yonkers (NY)
