I see...

I see no one wishes to discuss what caused the power outage over at Entercom Buffalo yesterday. At least, not on this board...What's with all the... :-X

There's a discussion elsewhere, as you may have noticed. What's going on here is much like the tug of war between Sirius and XM. Most of the well known and "regular" authors seem to prefer posting elsewhere, for whatever reason.[/Mike]

I find this new format extremely off-putting, so I read things from time to time and let it go at that.I guess I'm just not hip enough to deal with it all.

I'm in exactly the same boat. It took me nearly a month after the changes were made to even get back on this board at all.The changes that were made werte not thought out well at all for people like (most of) us who do not go on a whole lot of message boards and therefore may not be savvy enough to understand the technical do-dads that are available and even desirable to some.I browse this board once in a while, but the icons that say "new" are alwaysin place so I never really know what's new and what isn't.Too bad. This board used to be a fun place with some interesting people. But the powers that be seem to have driven away most of us.

Funny how there's 3 boards for Buffalo/Rochester now, yet none choose to go with the thread format. If I could put a board together, I'd use Boardhost.com. They have a good thread format. (not sure which company the old board came from)

I believe that Scott Fybush has discussed this very issue on Northeast Radio Watch at fybush.com. It might be worth taking a look at his site for a better understanding of recent events.

Format Change

I too liked the old format, however considering that this site does not require a yearly or monthly fee, one takes what one can get.As for the drop-off in the number of posters, that is to be expected when a site changes its format/style plus there are so many competitors out there. Also take into consideration that it’s summer-time and perhaps there are more important things for people to do during this vacation period than write messages on here. One may ask then why did I return? Well it’s Sunday morning and I’ve finished reading the paper and there is nothing on TV. Plus it’s raining outside, which prevents me from doing some yard workLet’s wait and see if some of the former posters return after fall. I have noticed some new names on here. But then again that might be people who have posted in the past using different names.

Link, please, Rox.Also, someone mentioned 3 Buffalo/Rochester boards???Maybe the reason there are so few of us back here is there are too many other boards to choose from. At my age (oh, how I love to use that phrase now that I'm a "mature" man) I tend to like simplicity as well as staying with the tried and true. I have no idea about these other boards unless one of them is SOWNY, where I also post, being located in Ontario and all...Anyway, good (rainy) Sunday to you all.

I thought I'd NEVER see or read the day that YOU would sound like a resident of the infamous Foonman Home! BTW, one of your funnier show close bits back in the day. That said, it's good to see you finally made it to the board. Did somebody have to show you where the "any key" was? :DWhat happened to this board and its rival is much like what happens to listeners after a station undergoes a format change. Lord knows none of us has ever been through one of those, eh? ;) Bwahhhh-hahhh-hahhh!I'm pretty good with a paint brush, but I sure ain't no computer maven. I didn't like the new format and still have issues with it, but like trimming my nose hair and waking up at 3 a.m. to drain my bladder, I've adapted. This is what happens to addicts. They cope with change. If the corner bodega is out of Mad Dog, they go to Wegmans and buy a liter of spearmint mouthwash. That way they get a good buzz and the have minty fresh breath! The mods on these boards seem to be a tad testy when it comes to mentioning the "other board." Links have been wiped out or rendered inoperative... even in an innocent post such as this might be edited... "and if I really say it / radio-infor won't play it / unless I lay it / between the lines... call 7 right now gets a six pack of Clearasil... hey now!" Walk right up to that vocal.Let's re-establish the community. Post more. Spread the word. The Buffalo-Rochester board was one of the best communities on the entire board. From time to time it became trite and sophmoric (and I admit to having occasionallycontributed to the sophistry), but it was a great board. People read it and posted regularly. There's no reason that sense of community can't be re-established.Hey! Ain't those Tony Robbins tapes great? Bwahhhhhh-hahhhh-hahhhhh.OK. I'm done. Buh-bye.[/Mike]

Any key? People have to guide me to the computer!!!And I am not only a resident of The Foonman Home, I'm the freakin' chairman of The Bored. And don't ever forget it!! ;DI've still got the sign in my garage...Anyway, now that I've figured things out, I'll be around for discussions of things I pretend I know something about. Thanks for the link, Rox; I'll check it out.

The SOWNY board makes that 3 1/2. SOWNY does touch on the odd Bufalo topic, but it's more of a Toronto/Southern Ontario board. The 3rd board is the WNY radio board. (I think I've misplaced the link though.)the same site also has boards for Syracuse radio and tv, also a Buffalo tv board.

Correction: The 3rd board I speak of is the WNY Media board www.wnymedia.com if this link gets deleted, google "WNY Media". Once at the site, click on radio forum at top left under features.
