"I" Sunday Nights

What's going on with 'i' on Sunday nights?

Last night while checking my TV listings for Christmas Eve, I came across the listings for "i", and noticed they are primarily airing infomercials. Same thing for New Years Eve.

Here's the schedule for Sunday 12/24:

6:00pm - Mercy Ships
7:00pm - Time-Life Infomercial
7:30pm - Final Events of Bible Prophecy
8:00pm - Dewey's Magical Sleigh
8:30pm - Time-Life Infomercial
9:00pm - Feed the Children
10:00pm - Time-Life Infomercial
10:30pm - Time-Life Infomercial
11:00pm - Live from Liberty

And for Sunday 12/31:

6:00pm - To Be Announced
7:00pm - Time-Life Infomercial
7:30pm - To Be Announced
8:00pm - Abacus
8:30pm - To Be Announced
9:00pm - Time-Life Infomercial
9:30pm - To Be Announced
10:30pm - Country Roads
11:00pm - Live from Liberty

Could it be possible that they couldn't sell Christmas and New Years to their normal advertisers that seem to cater to old fogeys looking for affordable insurance, Tempur Pedic mattresses, and dietary suppliments, or is this the first sign of i becoming all informercials, all the time?

I thought they acquired rights to an extensive portion of classic Warner Brothers syndicated programs? Couldn't i's airtime be better filled with these programs as opposed to the religious, infomercial, and public domain garbage they're throwing on now?

The question that comes to mind is "What's Wrong With The "I" Network?" any night of the week. First off, any show that they decide to show like Amen and Welcome Back Kotter, they drop them right off the bat without no explanation or anything. The only show that I watch now on there is Green Acres. I thought that the I Network was going to be an answer for those who wanted to see classic TV again and like you said I thought they had a bunch of shows from the Warner Brothers, Sony, and Universal libraries. They have failed big time on that. I have gone back to watching TV shows on DVD again and waiting to see if any other classic TV shows come out on DVD. Major disappointment for me. :(

SATIRE ALERT...SATIRE ALERT...MERRY CHRISTMAS

"That's right. Now you too can own The Final Events of Bible Prophecy to view and cherish in your home. Other Bible prophecy packages can sell for up to $1,000 dollars. But this Christmas Eve only, for the first 666 callers, you can get this deluxe one-of-a-kind package of Final Events of Bible Prophecy for just 4 easy payments of $79.95 - plus tax and shipping. Just imagine, the Final Events of Bible Prophecy will come alive in your very own living room. You get The Mark of the Beast, The New Jerusalem Temple, and Wars and Rumors of Wars to share with and inspire your family and friends. And if you order in the next half-hour, we'll include this very special bottle of non-potable Wormwood water as our gift. That's right, The Final Events of Bible Prophecy can be yours for just 4 easy payments of $79.95. CALL NOW!"

Comes to prove that i is more pathetic than ever, with only 5.5 nights of regular prime-time a week, and paid programming or infomercials (mainly the latter) all other times.

I have a feeling by the time the Hallmark deal kicks in in July 2007 (in which they will program Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights), weekends will be the only time for "real" programming, with infomercial crud all other times.

Of course, now's a fine time to determine if i (the network) will die in fall 2007 -- just like the past few years when we predicted the demise of i and Pax each season. So far, as long as they're making money off infomercials, i's a network that truly cheats death.

I remember in the late 80s the shopping networks on cable used to air public domain movies (in addition to "It's a Wonderful Life") instead of selling. I saw three different "Scrooge" movies. They were so bad I guess they were public domain movies. One was a silent version.

I can see selling on Christmas Eve as some people (OK they would be idiots) still haven't shopped so they are trying to come up with something. At least they can get a card and a gift "to come." so to speak.

Apparently all five of "i"'s viewers post here.

I'm not one of them -- I'm just following the posts to see how low i (the network) would go. It's juts like drivers slowing down to see an accident.

I'm not a die-hard i fan, either. I never watched the network until I read the press release about them buying a bunch of classic sitcoms, cartoons, and dramatic programming from the Warner Brothers, Sony, and Universal libraries earlier this summer. IF they start programming all of the shows they talked about in that press release, I probably would watch frequently for childhood nostalgic purposes...and as time filler if nothing else is on TV. :)
