I think Kiss 107.5 would DOMINATE!

Ah, yes. That was the stunt we pulled when we flipped WBBI from country to classic rock. I have a full scoped hour on it on my site, as well as the introduction of 107.5 The Bear (now Big 107.5).

Binghamton has a CHR, Wild 104.1. Why doesn't it dominate? It has the same power and coverage as 107.5. Country and talk are king in this market.

It doesn't dominate because it's POORLY executed -- their dayparting is brutal, they're insanely late with adds, and sound tired (some of their jingles are from pre-Louie). They'd implode under any competition, no body has any balls to do it!

WABC was late with adds, and they were the most listened to station in the nation! But let's not forget how conservative Steenbarger was with STAR. There were some hits that never saw the light of day in Binghamton plus at least one hair band song an hour. 17 share!

I'd love to see a good local CHR like WNKI in Elmira, I think if you moved them into Bingo they'd kill Wild. I totally agree with this post. Wild needs CHR personalities. There are plenty of good quality guys looking for a good job in any market.
Just a not on Star flipping. I've been hoping for that for years! So happy it happened, yet so sad that it's all imported. Also the imaging is sooooo bad. I hope that changes, get some jingles.. and there was no change on the web!

Take a listen to Star 105.7 today... http://www.binghamtonstar.com/cc-common/listenlive/

I think you'll like what you hear.

Something like this

http://tunein.com/radio/1-Power-Hitz-Hip-Hop-s49800/

can be tried out and given a shot. I did sample Star, but I'm still going for 1 Power.

Unfortunately the radio advertising pie is getting smaller. Terrestrial radio needs to focus on mainstream formats more than niche formats to make budget. If HD radio ever becomes big subchannels are one option. Other than that it's internet, satellite or iphone ap.
