I think Renel is gone at KISQ

Never logged in before but I am always reading the boards. Just thought I would end the speculation about Renel. She is done at KISQ. This was prior to the layoffs. Both parties agreed her time was up with KISS...an announcement will start next week on the air followed by a huge going away party from what I am hearing.
From what I've been told she might continue her career in radio so I won't be surprised if she stays somewhere in the SF market?
 
Will they bring back the Joyner show? It was such a good fit for the bay area (hehe)......
 
Renel is out? So is Sylvia Chacon? Wow.... I'm sure it wasn't because they were too talented. Especially Renel. Now for the Giants.

Anyone who says Renel was an A.A. hire is an idiot and knows jack squat about KISQ. You may not have liked her show, but she worked her a$$ off and was a total pro most of the time. Could she be difficult? From time to time...but that kind of comes with the Morning Show territory. What brought this latest development on is a mystery, but she generated good ratings and good will for a long time. Also, it could be they didn't want to pay for a REAL producer, which she would need because of her packed schedule...which means full time cash and bennies....NOT what CC is into right now.

I doubt if she'll go to another market...she is very identifiable here because of her long radio career and her work with the Giants. Anything's possible, though...

Renel was never my thing to listen to, but I watched her work....The woman is good.
 
Agree with jprg, she was difficult. She was also very talented and touched listeners. Bet all the money Mark Mays has got she left because they wanted to give her a big cut in pay.

I believe "A.A." is a sports metaphor for 'minor league,' and 'not the best.' I remember in high school, the athletes who didn't make "varsity" were on the "A" or "B" team.

Neither Renel or Sylvia Chacon were among my favorite radio personalities either, but that's a matter of taste. I'd consider Renel "varsity" level because of her popularity and longevity. And I'd consider Sylvia one of many DJs over the years in the Bay Area that did her job professionally and "delivered the format." We've celebrated many of those same people in this board - why not her?

i was thinking the guy meant Affirmative Action hires, because of the races of the ladies.... which is a pretty crappy thing to say.

You could be right. I didn't think of that (and I work in HR!). I was thinking of the sports usage, as in "AA Basketball."
 
A big announcement regarding Renel according to the KISS website at 9:30 this morning!
 
I have a sneaky suspicion that the rumors just may be true.....Hhmmmmm! If only there was a concrete sign or something to clear this up.
 
If KFRC ever re surfaces Sylvia Chacon would be a much better choice than Cammie Blackstone, She ruled the air for years on 99.7, thats gotta say something! i remember her debut show on 93.3 KYA in 1986,, Always been a big fan of hers!! I will give her an A+ for her contribution to radio. Cammie , you failed, hey what happened to Ron Parker on Sirius? I still stick to my story. those bumblin fools @ XM should have kept Bobby Ocean! Afternoon drive is Bobby "Skyrocker" Ocean!
