I Thought there would be NO MATH...

So let's see. Lowry Mays has a handful of station until he figures out how to get the NAB to do his lobbying and get new regulations for media ownership. Then disappears from his high-profile involvement with NAB. Couple of members of the "lucky sperm" club take over while the company steams ahead and racks up a few hundred more stations in the chain...

Now they'll end up with about 7% of $26B. I suspect they already GOT the lobbying done before the elections this year that will preempt all of that from Capital Gains......!!!

Looks like KVOS-TV from Bellingham is only regional entity that is directly affected. As I recall, they also have some properties in Tri-Cities ... so I suspect those go on the block now too.

Anyway...my apologies for boring the audience here because this post has nothing to do with MoVIN or FITZ. Thanks for indulging me....

I think CC also has some properties in Yaki-Vegas that are being cut loose under this news.

So, the Mays family makes a billion dollars now, gets paid to cut costs (people) and sell off properties over the next year or two and then makes another billion when the "new" private company goes public. This isn't broadcasting. This is monopolistic madness.

Lowery had a rather severe stroke a few months ago. I suspect he really isn't terribly involved with the Clear Channel divestiture, other than his name.

Last week I read that a investment group offered $19B for the whole thing. Since the current value of Clear Channel was recently set at $16B, I suspect the board will accept the offer. Whether the Mayes Brothers stay at the helm or not after the sale is complete I imagine is up for debate.

The offer is in and the Mays boys stay.
