I Told You So

Anyone notice that there are now two country songs within the last few years titled "I Told You So"?

Just wondering, if a listener ever calls up and wants to hear "I Told You So," do you reply, "Which one"?

I too prefer the Randy Travis version but I do admit that Carrie's version is pretty good also. Often times remakes are not as good as the original but Carrie's take on it is not bad at all.

I think it's mainly affected by the listener base of your station as most new country stations never play the original as it actually came out in the 1980s.

However it looks like for genreal country stations, it will be like other remakes..Which version do you want to hear.

Personally I really like Carrie, but neither Randy or Carrie do justice for the original Randy Travis version.

I think DtotheJ is talking about the fact that there's also a Keith Urban song from a few years back called "I Told You So"...but it's a completely different song.

And just in my personal experience, people usually specify which artist they want, unless they're the "I don't know the name or who it's by" types.

Honestly... I had no idea Randy Travis had recorded the original version of Carrie's current hit single.

Meanwhile, this week, for the first time, I heard a version of the song with both Carrie and Randy. Moby played it on his syndicated show on Monday morning. Are any other stations playing this version?

I hear it off and on here in SLC K-Bull 93, The Eagle 101.5 KSOP 104.3

Etc Etc...

KMPS plays the Randy and Carrie version...
KKWF plays only the Carrie version...
I hear no one playing the 1987 version with Randy Travis. Only RT songs on radio are Forever and Ever, Amen or Three Wooden Crosses.

I heard one of the Triton Media networks playing the version with both Randy and Carrie a couple of days ago. But I don't think I've heard anyone playing the Randy-only version.
