We agree there."No Child Left Behind" is a giood idea with no thought behind it. "No thought" being as you have stated insufficent funding and practical guidelines to carry it out. I have some good friends who are teachers, and they along with a vast majority of teachers are against this program because all it amounts to is Political PR, with no substance.

I appreciate your comments. When the Batman extended an olive branch a few days I accepted it for the most part. Bucky has a problem with it, and it's obvious he could cazreless what you or others have to say. Let the moderator know, perhaps they may actually do something.

The ËSL instruction in California consists of what they call bilingual education, where the student is instructed in the native language until they learn enough English. However, this simply does not work... most instructers in the "native language" were not certified in that tongue, so they teach very badly, and the English learning is postponed. Immersion is about the only technique that works, yet CA sepnds hundreds of milllions on a program that does not funtion.

Your point about guidelines is well made. I'd suggest some form of measurement of progress, too.

While not 12+ (Arbitron buys special breaks), the Census website has the American fact Finder where you can enter a state or metro and get a variety of really interesting reports.

Back in the late 80's early 90's, there was no better competition than K104 & 100.3 JAMZ. They each made the other better. It was radio at its finest. <P ID="signature">______________

Mark White defeated Bill Clements based on getting Teachers raises ,which he did by the way. Teddy Kennedy was behind "No Child Left Behind" but also was immediately on the attack when funding was not forthcoming and the little funding there was (and still is). No I am not an EMK fan, just setting the record straight.

And, in fact, this weekend, Sen. Kennedy took President Bush to task for not providing adequate funding for "No Child Left Behind" in his Democratic radio response to Bush.
