I Want To Thank Everyone

Who has helped and/or Prayed for me. This dream is now going to be given over to God completely. Not even sure if I would be able to pull this off. Going to give up on it for now and let God work things out. Whatever He wants, that's where I'll go. I wanted to do this LPFM thing for the reviving of my community. If I let go now and give it up to God, a greater blessing will result. Tired of the sudden doubts I'm experiencing. Going to be freed of these doubts and move on. If God wants my hometown to have a new Christian LPFM radio station, then so be it. I'm going to remain on here and share my thoughts about radio. Going to leave this pursuing dream behind for now and move on.

R.D.P. <>< (Dan)

P.S. To Level 42, thanks for your assistance too. Will now wait for God and see where He leads me.

As of this posting, here's the latest news. Gave the project over to God this morning. Felt sick all day because it was hard to do it. This afternoon while I was working in a yard, God confronted me for being a doubting Thomas and said the radio dream is going to happen. Just trust in me and I'll take care of the rest.

I did receive a greater blessing for giving Him the project. My first book is fixing to get published. God wants me to send it Dr. John F. MacArthur. I'm going to do just that and see if he can make some magic happen with it.

Glad that I'm no longer being a doubting Thomas. Want to see these dreams through to the end.

Thanks to everyone for their continued Prayers, help and support.

I appreciate it.

...And to everyone God will use to help me get it up and going, I want say thanks in advance.

Just contacted them and shared my vision.

I don't know how far my letter will go but I'm going give it the old college try.

I can so totally relate to the NECESSITY of giving a radio dream over to God! He put this dream upon my heart about 27 years ago. It is so totally above and beyond ANYTHING I would even BEGIN to muster... I have no choice BUT to give it over to Him! :)

It's so huge, ONLY GOD could make it happen! :)

Tell me about it Mr. Willie sir.

Just contacted an outfit called Nexus Broadcasting LLC of Mount Vernon Texas.

Had a long and nice talk with them.

For lots of money, I can have a LPFM radio station here in Selma Alabama at 93.3 FM

This station would have 100 watts and cover an area within 25 miles.

One problem though, I'm broke and won't be able to do this on my own.

Unless God were to provide me with some unexpected blessings and miracles, this dream is going to be axed for good.

I'm sorry Dan, but this is the very reason why people told you that you needed to seek out persons in your town to share in your vision and to provide support both prayerfully and financially. But it's not too late. Seek out those people...NOW.

Don't waste your time worrying about format. Quit debating whether it's an open door or not. Quit letting fear take a foothold on your vision. Find those who can support you. Get Sterling to do the paperwork. There are a good dozen frequencies that will work in Selma. File on Oct 15th.

Thanks for the advice.

Plan on doing that.

P.S. I have some donation money saved up from the missionary work I'm involved with.  Plan on using that money to help get this project going.  If God blesses me with even more money and resources, plan on using them as well.  Been talking to people everywhere and they're Praying for me.  I'm now going to share the actual costs of starting up this new LPFM and see if they want to contribute some to this project.  Not going to throw in the towel yet.  Still want to see this thing through to the end.

B.T.W. Been speaking with a local Pastor here too.  He's excited for me.  I have a feeling this person and his Church is going to help me all they can.  Stay tuned and I'll keep you posted.

I would think that the costs of an LPFM station SHOULD BE well within the means of any average church of between 200 and 400 people. :)

One of the CRITICAL things to have ready, is a tower site! Since it's going to be non-profit, you might be able to get a business with a tower (a local cell site, maybe?) or tall building, etc... to donate the space for the STL, transmitter & processor (probably not more than 4 to 6 rack units) and the Main transmit and STL antennas.

You can get a decent, new PC for only about $300. There is some EXCELLENT software called Zararadio that you could use for automation. IT IS FREE! :) A bare bones, halfway decent mic & a small mixer should be well under $200. There's your basic studio. :)

Since I have no idea what the FCC fees would be, or the engineering, I can say that you should be able to secure ALL of the hardware for about $10k. An average church SHOULD be able to raise that, if the people are excited about it! If you can get other churches to "chip in", so much the better. :)

My church has less than 100 people. It's mostly older folks. To have 50 people there on Sunday Morning is a blessing. Working hard at seeing this through. I now believe and won't be talked out of it, God is leading me towards this dream. He and I have been talking again about it. Things are beginning to take shape. Once I get my foot into the door, then I see if Nexus can help me find a good place to build the tower.

P.S. Plan on using an Apple Computer. It's worked for my writing career and I have no regrets.

I have *NEVER* heard of nor have I seen, a radio facility using Macs on the air. TV? Yes. Radio? No.

As for the church... do you have any large/growing "contemporary" churches in the area you could interest in the station?

Rush Limbaugh does it and has no regrets.

Checking with a local Christian book store now, to see if they can assist me.

The owner does attend a Contemporary type of Church.

I hope His Church will be able to help me.

R.D.P. <>< (Dan)

P.S. Not begging for money.  Want God to bless me with everything I need to see this through.  Hey if God were to use some of you nice posters to assist me, that would be awesome too.

Thanks man.

I still want to use one myself.

No viruses or hackers to deal with.

That's the thing I love about the Apple Computer.

Sorry to burst the "Apple Bubble"... but that is no longer true. ;)

This is an article in the respected Forbes magazine.

Trust me, there is much more support and software choices for the PC. Radio automation software, especially. :)

A Mac Mini running MegaSeg should more than work for a startup LPFM. And there are more than enough existing towers around Selma. One will surely be willing to lease space. But frankly neither of those issues matter at this moment. The first question that needs to be asked is whether or not Dan has done the legal work at the state and national level to be considered a non-profit as defined by the FCC. If not, Dan finding the lawyer to do just that is step one. Again, Sterling Communications should be able to help find that person. From personal experience, I strongly recommend Sterling.
