I was driving in Southington yesterday...

and I noticed a certain 990 AM station seems to still have an older call sign on the front, are they ever going to change it?

Like the tree in the woods...if the 990 AM tower fell...would anybody hear it? :)

Actually yes. The Italian Show on Sunday Mornings still has a huge following. It's been the one consistent thing on the station through all the owners and format changes. Also a lot of shut-ins are listening to The Lutheran Church Mass on Sunday Afternoons. 20 years now on AM 990 ever since WBIS 1120 went Spanish back in '93. The Polka Show, however has been going down since October 2011 when longtime host Patti Ann Jakubiak passed away. That and of course a lot of the listeners are dying off. A lot of people who listen to Polka Music are in the 55-Death Demographic.

And don't forget there's a NEXTEL antenna on one of WXCT's 2 towers. If the towers fell the NEXTEL customers would certainly notice.
