Ok so On a trip to NYC i was able to listen to the Pulse.. I must say it felt real good to hear Star in the morning again!!! he was doing his thing man, i love it, and they made it sound real personal as if he was in the car with me. I love the music selection and it its a good station to listen to in the car and the personalities are incredible, I hope they stay around!!!!
Now as for what i do not like. When I was listening to the night show it sounded like the same lady was calling the station over and over again changing her voice, talking about how much she loves he station yatata yata yata, same voice diff name I heard her 4 times in 2 hours and once today as i was approaching the toll both NOT COOL!! I understand that three are listeners that would very well take a bullet for there stations but those calls sounded like obvious plants. and if my hunch is correct I hope they stop doing that for the good of the stations integrity.

I called the Pulse and said how much I love them, and they've used my voice on the air when I least expected it. And I'm not involved with them at all.

Any time you call a radio station and get passed the call screen you are being recorded, stations that don't have a call screener (or one on duty) are usually automatically recorded. As for plants, the "callers" you hear in station promos or contest promos are almost always either voice actors or station employees. This enables the station get the reactions they need for the promos. Ethical concerns are avoided because it is technically an advertisement. As for caller plants, they are usually discouraged based on ethics, but there is no ethics law for media companies.

I can just imagine

I can just imagine if WFME 94.7 was sold to Max Media's Pulse FM, then Pulse would move up the dial for better coverage...Do we agree?

Anybody notice the Kylie Minogue picture on the front page of the Pulse website with the Z100 logo behind her? Classic! 8) www.pulse87.com This is as of 5:25pm on 6/26. Who knows when it may come down.

"New York's hottest dance music radio station"

I think they're mistaking themselves with KTU...

No, definitely not... KTU used to be NY's hottest dance station. Well, we know how that story ended.

Trust me on this one....no they're not. They definitely are WAY better than 'KTU

Then I'm wrong. I haven't listened to dance music radio in quite a long time. I think the last time was 2005.

The repetition is killing me when I was trying to listen to Pulse at the office online... I don't get it in my apt and the buildings cause a lot of static in the car and its lost in parts of Jersey... so I've all but stopped listening these days. Star & Buc (is Buc ever even there) in the morning, has their moments but is too ghetto for me and for most dance people I think... When I'm not listening to air checks of our dj's send me from outter markets, or a mix cd... I tune on KTU in the car for traffic reports with my traffic goddess Cindy Vero...

Otherwise I guess I'll just tune out this little war until the two KTU Beatstock shows... and I see from the lineup released today, all the turncoat artists that have been showing up in Pulse for free mic time, while trashing ktu, now get to come running back to the old station for a paid gig... LOL... I'm sure we'll also hear the mix dj's playing preshows in the parking lot or begging for stage time to reach two LIVE mass audiences that dance doesn't see much of...

I think Pulse has an identity crisis... part of why there is so much repetition and why moments I like it and other times it just drives me nuts... it's trying to be urban, pop, and dance and in the process is just becoming jock wise like the station for everyone's cast-offs... At least on KTU, I know what I'm getting... it's going to be some form of mainstream disco-to-now dance-like song...

I have been thinking VERY carefully and will write an opinion about Pulse on a separate thread soon.

While it won't be as bad as it was when I criticized 'KTU in the past, I've been quiet for too long now. I am grateful this time around that today's dance is getting represented but I do see where you are getting at Justin. And to that, I gotta "keep it real" to the fans of dance music in general.

Smart move on KTU's part to book artists that are on heavy rotation at Pulse. Will Pulse start phasing out some of their stronger recurrents? Its like the stealing of superdelegates from an also ran candidate (pulse) to the enventual winnner (Ktu).

Ummm....do realize that a lot of the artists on the lineup STILL get airplay of their classic tracks on 'KTU. So it's really not a "steal" from Pulse.
