I was shocked

It was a Sunday afternoon. Im listening to the Phillies on 1470 WKAP. The spots run between innings. A certain spot aired and I fell off my chair. The adult bookstore on 10th and Hamilton in Allentown was being advertised. This is family radio. This is the alleged baby boomer station. An adult bookstore ad during a Sunday game. Oh, Lord have mercy! Can you imagine what Gertrude Litzenberger in Pt. Phillips thought?

What do you expect from Clear Channel - a comapny with no morals?

*I* was shocked at *this*

WEEU airing the simulcast of the *entire* half-hour long 69 News Berks Edition yesterday. Always wondered why they cut off the simulcast at 5:50 in the past.

They used to just cut away when the weather came on and never went back. Now the weather comes mid-newscast so WEEU has to go back or it would only be a 15 minute cast.

Maybe I'm far more liberal after years of living outside the Lehigh Valley, but I personally don't see a problem with that. The audience for that program (in this case, a sporting event) is predominately male and adult (as I can't imagine a huge chung of the younger end of the audience is listening to a sporting event on AM radio in 2006). The bookstore is targeting adult males. If they wanna advertise their product on the radio and they've got the cash, why shouldn't they be allowed? I'd pretty much guarantee without even listening that you heard ads for beer, auto parts, and home repair superstores, and they bought time during the game for the same reason.

It's not like they're describing in illicit detail what you can do with the products they sell. Now if you had told me you heard the ad on Radio Disney, then I'd see a problem. Just my 2 cents.
