I was wrong about Jones...

This is really sad. I had only really begun listening to their format a couple weeks ago and it was enjoyable. That overnight boring jock (who talked like Ben Stein) made me think it wasn't good. I never gave it much of a chance and am shocked to find my favorite one: KZAL 94.7 tweaked to smooth AC. That was the best one and now that's gone. I just shake my head at BA because it is so generic now with not many breathtaking songs in the mix like Jones had. I would like to know, does Jones have an online internet only stream? Or has it gone out completely?

Hi icycool. Yeah, many of us have been lamenting about the end of Jones and sharing our Jones stories with one another. It's what brought me here to the board initially. September 30, 2008, was indeed a sad day for me, and for contemporary jazz on radio.

While I cannot promise you 100% Jones, I have tried very much to emulate their format. I welcome you to check out my stream at http://loudcity.com/stations/the-wav-smooth-jazz. Some of the guys I met on this board are now members and regular listeners. While this is just a hobby for me and still a work in progress, I do take great pride in my programming and am striving to improve it daily.

Take care,

Chris

Hey Randy! Thanks SO MUCH for listening. I am really glad you are enjoying the programming. And yes, I have every one of the songs you listed in my regular rotation 8).

I have some very exciting news about the station that I am not yet at liberty to discuss, but let's just say that personally, it has been one of the most gratifying weeks of my life! My hard work over the last few weeks is starting to pay off, so please keep listening, and tell your friends about the station! This is and will continue to be a passionate hobby for me, and is truly a labor of love.

Thanks again for tuning in!

Chris

Chris...

Was listening at 8pm... Turned to my wife in astonishment and said "I think I just heard Riker on The.Wav.. No couldn't be.... yes, it was Riker... !!!" Heard him again a few times to confirm...

Really, Really blown away that you landed Riker to do your liners. Wow... VERY VERY impressive. Thanks so much!!! Now I know what you meant by " very exciting things are happening..."

Congrats,,, and keep up the good work... Jones Lives on!!!

Best of Luck

Dittos on the congrats Chris!!

Lanading Keith Riker must be very satisfying...your hard work has paid off!!

Continued success with, what I consider to be, the the finest SJ station I've ever heard!!

Thanks, guys! It was painful trying to keep a lid on it for a week :D, but now the cat's out of the proverbial bag, and Keith's voice is back alongside of contemporary jazz, right where it belongs. This past week has been a tremendous ride, one that I never envisioned when I launched my little old Loudcity-based station 4 months ago. I will tell you that Keith was an absolute pleasure to chat with, and a true professional. He also told me that he was very moved by my comments and the comments of others who praised him on a radio forum (have to believe it was this one). He told me that working for a satellite provider, he at times felt he did not have that personal connection with his listeners, and he was pleasantly surprised to have learned that he had touched so many across the country during his several years with Jones.

Thanks so much again for listening. I humbled by your kind comments about the programming, and I am committed to continue to try to carry the torch for this genre, and not ignore its roots either. I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet! Some big name artists have also agreed to do liners for the station. I assure you that I will continue to try to give you guys the most professional product this "one man band" possibly can. ;)

Peace,

Chris
