I WISH I COULD

:( I wish I could work in Program Management for WRKO . ???
I was listenning last night, looking forward to listenning to "Red Eye Radio" after the MLB Playoffs. Instead they had "Michael Savage" At that time, ?? was around 1:25am. Michael Savage show is supposed to be LIVE around the whole country (6pm-9pm-In Boston area) But normally WRKO put it on a delay time 7pm-10pm.
My point being is, they didn't have "Red Eye Radio" on last night.
I did notice that Red Eye Radio is a repeat (Early Saturday mornings) and (sometimes) Early Friday morning as well. But mostly repeats early Saturday mornings. For a great show like that, they should be on LIVE every night, even if it mean to put on a different host like Mark Jermain who does early Sunday mornings.
If I was working in program management, I would've have them put Red Eye Radio on at it's normal time.
If they know it's a repeat, put a Liner stating something like "This is the Best Of.....no calls please" even during Michael Savage show since they put it on delay time.
I love WRKO. But, put the good show on. Not something that already got over three hours ago.
I wish I worked in Program Management for WRKO. I would make things a lot better, they would be the BEST talk radio station in the world!!

the best talk radio was RAga Shanti on NEwstalk93 (Relayed by local pirates)'

shame he got taken off the air

Hot 87.7 has a Sports Talk show on Sunday mornings around 8am. I havn't been able to hear that station in about four months, so I don't know if they still host that show.
Good stuff considering it's a pirate station.
WEEI should consider them (for an overnight show) that way it will be a local show, which might be better for Boston Sports fans to have a local show.

Getting back to WRKO though, they're a great station. They've been around for a long time. They are a talk show, the average listener might not be able to know that Michael Savage show is on delay, so if that average (Mary) is listenning at 9:20pm, if she want to interact with the show, she can't because at that time (Here in Boston) it's over. It finished 20 minutes ago,
As a Program Manager, I would (try) to put most shows (if it's local or national) put it on LIVE!!!
I have many good ideas, but it's sad that no one in management want to hear it or give me a chance.

This will only happen for another week or two with baseball playoffs.
Here is the situation: WEEI/Entercom has a contract with ESPN. Currently they run it overnight and some
weekend slots, and according to one source AM 850 may eventually flip to all ESPN. When there are
sporting events, WEEI--or WRKO, if they bump it there--may carry them if they want, and perhaps running these events can earn them some money. Maybe they are required to run them (MNF,
BC Sports) by contract.

Michael Savage may cost them nothing or very little. ESPN, etc., might make them more money or there
may be more interest in the sporting events. I know I was listening to the NL playoff last night on WRKO
(at work) and tonight I will be listening to the NL playoff on 93.7, at work. WEEI's regular signals were
busy discussing the Red Sox situation, because that is their bread and butter. That earns them money.
But at least they bumped the game over to WRKO. Not everyone will be happy.

When the Red Sox were primarily on WRKO, Savage got bumped often. The schedule was:

Sox game? Game, then Savage.
No Sox game? Savage, then Doyle.
Sox game on west coast? Savage, then game.
Games can run long and it can impact shows like Redeye.

It's all money and priorities. I for one am glad WEEI/WRKO are running these games. I am not just a Red
Sox fan, I am a baseball fan, and my allegiance to the game doesn't end when the beer-and-fried-chicken-loving players call it a season. I follow it till the last game of the World Series.

I'll add Red Sox voice Dave O'Brien was on last night for the Brewers' win. Sweet.

Well, if you were WRKO or WEEI PD maybe you could make your own decisions but realize that such
things as turning a profit, honoring contracts (example: WEEI bumping Mon Night Football to WRKO
because they have something else on), and so on do have to be considered. (MNF actually is from
Westwood One)

In fact I'll bet the folks on Guest St. would have put WEEI on FM long ago and it was probably the
folks at HQ in Bala Cynwyd, PA who dragged their feet on the move....sometimes, you have to deal
with stuff like that.

Yes we'd like to have talk shows on live but sometimes there are reason why that isn't to be. Some
stations (like WTKK) delayed Ingraham from 9 am to 10pm...now that's a lag.

Local overnight for WEEI--or Sports Hub--could work, and sometimes you do see it (example: after-Pats talk when Pats were on Mon. night football). If Sox were in playoffs, perhaps WEEI could have local talk
running till 2 am or so.
They may figure we do enough local talk during the day and at night they'd rather run stuff off the bird,
namely ESPN (and Fox in the case of Sports Hub). I enjoy both networks and haven't heard enough
of what is now Yahoo!Sports radio to judge. ESPN is a well known name and has a good national
perspective. In fact again the rumor is the AM 850 may go ESPN full time (again, I am just quoting the
post K. Vahey made in late Sept. on boston-radio-interest that supp. 850 goes full time ESPN soon, from
an ESPN source.)

87.7 may have a good show but they have one thing in common with Whitey Bulger, Bernie Madoff,
and the Barefoot Bandit: they were/are breaking the law...

LAUROJRM, McIntyre showed up after the 1:30ish news break, already in progress. The Sausage program was a rerun of the one earlier in the night. (It's bad enough that he's on once)
I'm guessing that it was an autopilot screwup. They screw up a lot lately, playing two ads at the same time or broadcasting in echo mode for several minutes. They must have cut way back on staff. It seems like at least half of their ads these days are government PSAs. The only people who have lots of money to blow on radio ads these days are the ones who get their revenue by force.
