I wish Seattle had a station like 100.3 "The Q"

I wish Seattle had a station like 100.3 CKKQ (Victoria BC). The Mountian is the most like it as far as I can tell but it doesn't work for me. With a lot of talk about "who is going to flip or change", I say someone should copy their format and playlist here in Seattle. They have a great morning show... funny with contests and they play music. None of the gutter material like on some of our morning shows. A great playlist with classic and new music. Songs you will hear on KISW, KNDD, KZOK, and The Mountain. They, of course, play a bunch of stuff from north of the border, as well, like The Tagically Hip, Matt Good, Matt Mayes, Barenaked Ladies, Sam Roberts, etc. Seattle should play more Canadian artists. They are only 2.5 hours away. If CKKQ had a better signal in town I would listen to it all the time instead of most of the time. My 2 cents.

CKKQ has a PHENOMENAL signal. It easily covers Northwest Washington and can be picked up decently in Downtown Seattle (probably the only Canadian FM that still has that reach.) In my car from North Seattle to Vancouver, the stereo light doesn't blip at all and you hear little to no "picket fencing", especailly the further north you go. By the time you get into Bellingham, it's as loud and clear as KISM, KAFE and KWPZ.

The farthest south I've been able to pick it up was on the Tacoma Narrows bridge. But then something interesting as you head south - KKRZ Portland starts fading in and by the time you get to Olympia, it's the dominant channel on 100.3 MHz.....

How far north does KKRZ make it?

Becuase i've passed 100.3 several times and sounded
like CC programming, but wasnt able to tell (North Lake Washington)

Thats a LONG way for a 95 KW from oregon

Wonder if they get KUBE? haha, ah CC gotta love em!

Normally can get KKRZ and The "Q" depending on conditions and which way the antenna is pointed.

would agree with Bongwater, once you start heading south of Tacoma, KKRZ starts to make itself known. You tell it's them because they pitch up the music a few percentage points. "Q" covers most points north of Tacoma.

Interesting side note: KWIQ Moses Hole, reaches into some areas near Centralia and Chehalis. I can't verify, but heard this mentioned by another radio junky.

I can vouch for this; KFNK 104.9 with a 17 KW stick south of Eatonville hits the area east of Kittitas just before you drop into the Columbia gorge, I-90. Sounds local. I spose it's a reflection off the icy face of Rainier.

At one time (pre-1987) I could pick up KWIQ in LYNNWOOD.....
