I wonder if this format would work.

I've always wanted to have a station that plays the Top songs from Country, R and B, AC/CHR, Some Rock, Christian, Oldies and mix it all together and truly make it a station for everyone. I personally and a lot of the people I talk to would love to hear a station like that. I think the biggest pro is that most people if you talk to them say they listen to everything. So if that were true then IF a song came on they didn't like they could sit through it because they knew one they would like would be on their way.

I may be behind the times and their might be a station out there doing this. I've just never heard of it.

Whatcha Think?

Bobfm 103.5 (KBPA) in Austin does most of that. I havnt heard any christain music on it though, they even play some old 90's dance r&b oldies and 80's rock, some new stuff they will through in with even some classic alternitive.

=======================
I don't know of any station that plays that wide a variety of music. For someone like me that is always pushing presets or hitting the scan button, it might be just the station I would be looking to listen to without jumping around the dial. I would vote yes on the station. It might be a good format for KHPT or KHMX. I would say that 106.9 would be station that needs replacing more than any other, it would be light years better than whats on KHPT now. My only question is it ahead of it's time? I like every category you listed, you might even want to throw in some true jazz and top hits from the 40's & 50's in the mix.

The hardest part might be balancing what percentage of each type of music you play. If you did add 40's & 50's they would not be played anywhere as frequently as top Country.

I remember when I first moved to Corpus back in 1980, KNCN (C-101) was about as close to that as I've ever heard. It wasn't uncommon to hear Alice Cooper, Willie Nelson, the Beach Boys and Michael Jackson back to back. It was quite a culture shock, having moved from Dallas, being "raised" on two of the best stations IMHO, ever: KZEW (The Zoo) and KTXQ (Q-102)

Not long after, Bob Fazio became PD and turned C-101 into an awesome AOR station.
