I would not recommend the NEW Live365

After being on there for about 6 months I would not recommend them. THEIR PLATFORM HAS ISSUES. The ad revenue is not that much.

So I have had numerous issues since starting. Yesterday the server I was on died.....and they "rebuilt" a new one (which took all day). Today I am getting 2 minute ads instead of 1 minute. Lots of dead air (usually after the commercials) and then jumping into the music already in progress. But they are not ALL bad though, I'd give them an 80 out of 100, which is satisfactory.......just not good or great. They were about the only option available when Streamlisencing closed. They just need to fix some things.

When the 44% songwriters rate increase kicks in next year, you'll make less, and there will be even more commercials.

And it won't stop then, either.

What percentage do the songwriters get now? I've heard it's not much. So 44% of not much could be not much more.

They get about 10% of the revenue. This would give them about 15%. But that's just the songwriter's percentage. The labels and artists receive quite a bit more.

Adding it together, it's over 50% of the revenue (not the profit) that gets paid to writers, artists, labels, and musicians. And those rates go up every few years.

Have to consider this one too in some cases they have to avoid label disputes.

I think you have some misunderstandings about Live365's ad revenue plan. It is not designed to "make a living from". That's just about impossible for any sole Internet broadcaster. With that said, Live365 is in the process of launching a brand new dashboard for broadcasters, so your criticism of that aspect is becoming unwarranted.

Live365 is the only streaming platform standing that covers royalty fees "and" hosts the streaming technology. Sure there is Radio Coalition for royalty coverage and you can use them in conjunction with Live365, but RC does not offer their own streaming service platform.

In regards to dead air after commercial breaks, that's dependent on understanding how it works. It is flawless for basic mode broadcasters. The few users who do experience issues are typically the ones in "Live" mode who either don't have something configured correctly, or have modified the ad trigger files.

The support folks at Live365 are on hand to help you by email or through ticket submissions from the dashboard.
