i97.5

97.5 Bob FM last song: "Bye Bye Bye" by *NSYNC

Bells chimed...at noon

10,000 songs in a row

i97.5 first song: "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO

I'm pretty sure they are still KSZR...that's what I thought I heard.

So far...

Florida - "Good Feeling"
Rihanna (ft. Calvin Harris) - "We Found Love"
Hot Chelle Rae - "Tonight, Tonight"
Selena Gomez & The Scene - "Love You Like a Love Song"
Lupe Fiasco - "The Show Goes On"

The music sounds good. It was the most logical format for them to flip to for their cluster.

They won't win the CHR battle for a variety of reasons. Inferior signal to KRQ, and its highly unlikely they won't equal the star power of the personalities on KRQ.

Buying ten billboards won't cut it for making a big dent. They had better be thinking big or it'll be another Bob in the ratings.

Not a fan of them playing Cee Lo Green's "Forget You" three times since noon when they are playing 10,000 songs in a row. It's not as though this song is new.

Oh 2Son, do you not know anything about CHR?

Likely they're running with less than 100 titles -- probably more like 70.

The station isn't looking for long listening... it needs cume.

You don't get big audiences with big playlists. Ever.

Cleared from my car presets yesterday afternoon...

Excuse me? No, I don't know anything as I was just born last week. ::)
Playing a song like "Forget You" three times in a few hours even though there are other songs that are current that had not been played yet was my point.

Go play in someone else's yard.

The first few songs played look like the same ones 99-5 the Vibe in Birmingham (also owned by Cumulus) played when they flipped on New Year's Day.

This is NOT a slam on the poster. But the genius corporate programming people that think it is 1983 and tens of thousands heard the news that there is a big format change coming to a local station! They just know that the masses will run to their nearest radio at noon and all gather round as they hear the unveiling of an incredible new station. They will really impress the ears of those crying out for a new station by kicking it off with incredible list of songs as to not dissapoint the thousands that have tuned in! Cue the crickets...Really...?

It's not just the playlist that's recycled, Cumulus seems to like the i-branding; they've used it in Nashville and Pensacola and no telling where else.

In Pensacola, they gave i100 a shot for a little less than two years and couldn't unseat locally-owned WABB out of Mobile or Clear Channel's Hit Music Now competition. So they flipped to another beloved corporate setup, classic pop hits "Journey".

There, I'm predicting the next thing they do on 97.5 when CHR fails. ;)

I97.5 Can beat KRQ....

I can't tell you how....right now. Buzz J has been given the chance of a lifetime to win in Tucson and OWN the market.

Buzz J received the info on this date. It is really all in his hands. No signal upgrade needed, no giant budget needed.

The station can go NUCLEAR in just weeks. To find out what this is all about...keep listening and hear it.

(If Buzz...makes the move, the question is...How important is it to Cumulus?)

LC/SA

This is pretty good speculation. And, let's be real, it's 2012... SIGNAL does matter. This is like comparing a Yugo to a Jaguar. 97.5 in Tucson has had how many formats? I know I lost count. Good Luck!

No Justice/ Larry - point taken. And for the record (and it is not my intention to sound cocky, but that's how it will probably sound:) I am already "OWNing" the market with KIIM. Thanks for all the emails yesterday :)

Buzz...you know I am not in the market, and I was able to rationalize a concern for stepping on the sister station.

ChaseRadioWorks.

When the time is right.

:)

You are not being cocky...you are staying on top. That's a nice place to be.

OK How about a lesson in reality!! Buzz is a stand up guy and none of this is meant as anything negative toward him.
To take down KRQ will be a very tall order!! Could it happen, sure anything can happen, but lets stay in the real world.
This great change could be what? Buzz goes on the air on 97.5, not likely. 97.5 gets a bigger signal, not likely .
Buzz gets to download the music from Atlanta in a different way. Probably not happening. So let's hear what this KRQ crippling news is. I am certainly not a fan of anything on KRQ, but big claims like nojustice is putting up won't happen in the world of reality!
