IBOC Coverage and Interference NAB Fall 2006

I especially liked the note that some AM-HD stations are hearing the hiss in their on-air monitors.
I was surprised that vehicle ignition noise can cause an HD station to work only when the vehicle is idling. This is a sorry situation.
Maybe they'll have to add a noise antenna within the engine compartment and subtract the ign noise by cancellation.

A more rational approach would be for the FCC to just cancel the whole HD experiment, not give final approval, and get back to the FCC's only reason for existence, to regulate and limit interference and broadcasters.
HD Radio is not necessary, in demand, desirable or viable on either AM or FM. It causes more problems and harm then any imaginary benefits.

Wow, the one of the most damming cases against I-BLOC I've seen in a while.

Ironically, I had an outside role with a couple of the cases sited in his presentation.
