IBOC: no - ISOC: yes

Since the N.A.B. doesn't represent us,
and since the FCC ignores our needs (particularly in this HD issue),
and since IBOC is junk technology,
seems to me, an orgaization needs to be formed to be active in petitions for rulemaking and formalling objecting to corporate weaseldom......

Independent
Station
Owners
Coalition

ISOC...

Qualifications for joining:
1) - Love radio at least as much as money (I know... silly to enforce).
2) - Owning no stock or interest in big corporate radio.
3) - Owning 1 or more radio stations, but not more than (let's say) 15.
4) - Stations must not air get-rich-quick schemes, snake-oil pitches nor
phony preachers. (redemption given for PAST sins of section 4).

My checkbook is open, ready to pay dues to something like this.

Me too. Small station owners have a lot in common. There really is room for someone who would represent them. You sure don't get that from NAB.

Given the word "broadcasters" in their name, it amazes me how the NAB has managed to alienate most of them. They fought against LPFM's and sat-casters, so the association can't expect them to be members. Most small station owners feel the NAB has failed to looked out for their interests. So whose left? The media conglomerates.

I'm not sure how much clout they have in government but maybe the NAFB should think about expanding their membership to include small (or single) station owners and community broadcasters.

I'm guessing there are very few owners who fit both three and four.
