Ice Storm '09: The Second Coming?

So... are we going to see a quarter inch of ice and a quarter inch of snow?

A half inch of ice?

Will Fayetteville be wiped off the map?

The weather service looks nervous about this storm, the TV stations look nervous about this storm, residents look nervous about this storm (see: Wal-Mart or Reasors) but I think it's the Tulsa Public Works Department that's being quoted in a couple of stories as saying "Significant icing and long-term, widespread power outages aren't expected in the Tulsa area."

Who's right? Major ice storm or no major ice storm?

If this does turn out to be Ice Storm Pt. II: Revenge Of The Precipitation, who will have the best radio coverage? Will ANYBODY have good coverage?

Broadcasters, place your bets! The line forms to the right...

Geez...I thought my mother was bad!!

Just messin' with you Gene. I hope this thing passes without major tragedy.

Though, more material for TLC's new reality show "Saw For Hire" (known locally as "Nosak Raw") certainly will be needed soon. :)

This will NOT be a snow-intese event. It will be freezing rain or sleet. If freezing rain, trees, powerlines, etc will be in trouble. If it's mainly sleet, only driving will be affected. Too much warm air just above the surface for snow.

Sorry...I'm a weather nut.

Bryan: I'm in the media; it's my job to create panic. ;) (call me!)

ionosphere: You're calling it like I'm seeing it, there was a little snow in the forecast at one point for tomorrow night but it was tough for me to believe, too.

I'm hearing one problem regarding driving is the ground is already at freezing, so what falls will freeze, and will stay frozen. It looks like we won't get back above freezing until Wednesday, either.

KRMG says they'll start StormCenter at noon although I haven't heard anybody clarify if that means they will do continuous coverage, break-ins every 15 minutes, or if it's just a new way to label their top and bottom of the hour newscasts.

...I'm also wondering if we'll hear Marshall Stewart during this storm... As mentioned in the "KRMG Changes?" thread, we haven't heard him on the air in a few weeks, and rumor has it that after 15 or 20 something years at The Big KMR that he was let go as part of a budget cut. If they did, that seems like another in a long list of blunders...

I haven't heard anything about 1170's coverage yet, although I assume Brian Gann will be on the air as needed and it helps that they already have Chris Medlock live 2 - 4.

I'm listening to Joe Riddle on 1270 this midday; I can't decide if he's sympathizing with Green Country residents who will have to drive in this and will lose power, or if he's just making fun of the media going to wall-to-wall coverage... Entertaining either way, I guess...

AH! Stormcenter coverage means tones over everything. GOT IT. 8)

Whoops. I wrote what I was thinking. What I meant to say was "find a new hobby"

Since we're starting this conversation over, I guess...

Why should I find a new hobby? I'm really, really, REALLY happy with my current one(s)! ;D
