I want Emmis to bring back Howard Cogan. I do not like the hack they are currently using. Does anyone have any insight as to why they dumped Howard so quickily after the station launched? Did SparkNet complain?

I can not answer that but I agree with you. I listened to their sister station's stream (Bob-FM Norfolk,VA) and Howard Cogan is still doing his thing as Bob on that station.

ABC is now licensing the "Jack" format. They have exclusive rights to Cogan's voice in markets they could potentially sell to. In an article from Mediaweek: "Under the agreement, ABC Radio Networks will create, market and sell a full-produced and locally-integrated broadcast of Jack-FM programming to stations in markets ranked 41 or smaller beginning Oct. 1."

Norfolk is market 40 so they are not affected. Austin is market 42 so they are covered by the Jack exclusivity agreement. I don't know of any other smaller than 40 markets that used his voice but if anyone else has let us know. Someone may be fighting it.
