I'd like to have XM's Channel 6 (Sixties)

I'd like to have XM's Channel 6 (Sixties) made available on Sirius. It sounds just like the real MusicRadio of its time period... pretty authentic sounding. Come to think about it give me 5 & 7 too !

Word on the street is that next month, most of the XM channels will disappear.

The Sirius 50s, 60s, and 70s channels will appear on both Sirius and XM.

Complete shame, because XM's was vastly superior, and more popular. Hopefully they will send over some of the XM staff, keep some of the shows, and improve the boring Sirius playlists. If not, thousands of people will be canceling, myself included!

XM did a great job on 50s and 60s, but their 70s channel really declined. Sirius Totally 70s actually has a wider playlist that the XM 70s channel. On another site it was found that Sirius played dozens of 70s hit that XM canned from their playlists. At one time 70s on 7 really was great, but Sirius passed them by the last year or so. No loss there for, I also prefer the 80s on Sirius. With the cutback in playlists on 60s on 6 also on XM, it was barely ahead of Sirius 60s Vibrations.

Yeah, I like that Totally 70's channel on Sirius, too...they got the BEST personalities on there...;);)

You may be right. I only listened to 50s and 60s on XM, except for Casey Kasem.

60s declined, but was still ahead of Sirius. They also had a more interesting and energetic presentation.

50s stayed good to the end, in my opinion.

My understanding was the 60's on 6 channel on XM reduced the playlist to just hits to help transition over to the Sirius equivalent. All the jocks but one were let go a week or so ago, so don't look for Motormouth or Phlash to make the cut. I *think* only Pat Clarke is still around; at least that's the only voice I've heard lately.

Just the opposite actually, Pat Clarke was let go for the mid Nov merge of channels, and Phlash & Motormouth have been kept on & will be a part of the combined Sirius/XM 60s channel.

Dang... Sorry for the misinformation. :(

I did hear Pat Clarke on just a few days ago, taking calls from listeners and generally sounding kinda dull about life. Maybe that was voicetracked. ;)

Xm's 50's channel is better. Serious doesn't have a 50's channel.
the 60's channel on XM is better, too. Better jingles, wider playlist.
I'm glad to have both services, hopefully they won't cut too much out of XM, though its lookin like it.
Bassed on what I can see on the channel guide, it seems what's left is voicetrack jocks, or jockliss for the most part.

XM's 60s channel was really great. Well Done. The playlist on Sirius is good, but the lack of "energized" Jocks simulating 60s radio at that time is missed. Its only the commercials I'd like to live without on "pay radio"... The authentic sound/jingles and pacing is like a trip back in a time machine. Real Gold.

Hope they'll fix up Sirius 6 after the programming changes.

Now that the change has taken place, how many Sirius 60's lovers are going to cancel their subscription because they essentially kept the XM 60's on 6? I'm sure that all satellite radio subscribers originally chose one or the other based on the personalities that were on each service, and not the music that was played. At least that's how it seems after reading the posts on this and the XM boards. For half of the world's satellite radio subscribers, the world has now officially ended. Which half is up to you to decide.

Wow! 60's on 6... On Sirius ! Soooo much better than that sleepy "60's Vibrations". Love the "authentic" sounding top 40 radio sound, the jocks and the music. What a great change!

Now if we could only cut back on hearing "Cousin Brucie" re-runs all the time.

Very positive, aren't we, Barry? :)

But "Sirius"-ly, Cousin Brucie was such a HUGE part of the 60's (in terms of radio and of course his connections with the Beatles CANNOT be denied in ANY way, shape, or form) that Sirius did the RIGHT thing by hiring Brucie...

Cousin Brucie was a New York Jock. This is a B I G country. Many people across the US never heard Cousin Bruce. Each major city in the '60s had their own "Cousin Brucie". Maybe some posters here could list their city's best known, best loved Top 40 Guy who owned the airwaves at the time.

Andrea, did you know that in LA, The Beatles were introduced to the listening public by a Radio DJ, named Bob Eubanks. Someone we in NY only knew as the host of "The Newlywed Game".

New York's a big town, but its not the whole USA.

I'd like to know why they took the Strobe away from Sirius, but XM gets to keep The Groove? It'd be nice to have that one. These changes this morning, some of them make no sense at all to me.

Hey, Barry...

1) Brucie may have been a "New York jock", but the impact that he and Murray the K had on radio in the 60's CANNOT and MUST NOT BE DENIED!!
2) I was WELL AWARE of Eubanks' connection to the Beatles - in the same vein, a LOT of people DON'T know that Chuck Barris (yes, THAT Chuck
Barris!) was the dude who wrote a little song in the 60's called "Palisades Park" for some guy named Freddy "Boom-Boom" Cannon...)
3) New York may NOT be the whole USA, BUT...New York set the STANDARD for a LOT of things then and STILL DOES TODAY!!
