Idea for Movin

Alright the movin format has moved on in many other markets, only a matter of time before they put a fork in the phoenix market as well. Now I wish they would go dance/chr but that probably wont happen. Since they are already airing seacrest and bush, why not make it a hot a/c/female talk hybird station. They could do this:

Bob and Sherri mornings
Roberta Gayle middays
Seacrest early afternoons
matt and ramona pm drive
billy bush nights
cooper lawerence late nights
dawson mcalister late late nights

some personality to the radio is not a bad thing

I've been thinking this for a while - when it comes to the dance leaning chr or top 40 sound at Movin. It probably would not work out unless we lose one of our other rhythmic or rhythmic whatever stations that are already touching on the top 40 sound.

If anything, I just hope we don't lose JamZ. However, if anything else that's similar goes, that may cause JamZ to change or tweak a bit and evolve into something I'd enjoy less, so I guess either way it's kind of a lose-lose situation unless nothing at all changes. Unfortunately, no change would leave little or no room for Movin to go to dance leaning...... The entire thing is kind of like a big mess, and the likeliness of the perfect ending that would make your wishful thinking come true is very unlikely to happen.

To get what you want, something else will have to be messed up first... and this is usually always the case when it comes to radio these days. If JamZ must go, then hopefully we get an Amp, but is that even likely to happen with Kiss FM's current format? And lets say KKFR goes. You think KZON would stay completely the same way as they are now? Lets say none of this happens. You think Movin would change to do anything even related to chr? Don't even mention becoming all dance because that's pretty much out of the question. Very unlikely we'd get a Pulse 97.5.. KZZP, I can safely assume that they'll stick around because I'm sure they're just sitting up there "laughing at everyone else" who's playing the hits, whether it be "hits" from back in the day or today.

Lets say KVIB or KMVA or both must go. It would be nice if at least one did do the dance leaning chr thing. With all these rhythmics already playing dance styled hits (basically dance!) back to back in regular rotation, it might as well happen. Some people may argue and say "this is not real dance - you guys suck - I wont listen!" Oh well. You can never satisfy everyone. Dance leaning top 40 and pop remixes - it's better than having nothing at all.

NOBODY WILL EVER PLAY DANCE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not happening. never, ever in your lifetime will a full powered station interested in making money play madonna remixes.

fyi- the movin' in phx performed better than kkfr, kslx, knix and some other "big names" the latest ratings period.

i-tunes...find it and load your ipod and stop discussing dance music forever.

As far as I'm concerned, dance music is already being played on the radio. I don't care if I am beheaded by dance fans because people don't consider it "real" dance music or because "it's not a dance artist, so it's not dance". I also don't care if I'm beheaded by people who think everything must be hip hop and pop because they are unfamiliar with other genres or think an artist defines what style of music it is, or simply just don't know any better - I mostly like the style. The artist pretty much only provides the vocals to the instrumental, whether it be rap, singing, or TRYING to do either of the two...etc. Some may cross over into pop, some may cross over into r&b, or whatever people choose to call it, but it still is what it is. ..And one more thing all people, including dance fans, should understand; Dance is more than just "techno" or songs that sound like house or have house-styled beats. It's a very broad definition...

Anyway - no need for me to spell it out or explain - bottom line, dance is being played a lot these days, or I should say at least, my style of rhythmic dance / electro bass, pop, and dance influenced hits. A dance leaning chr would just give more attention to the "real" dance hits and have decent mix shows, which I also would have no problem with.

Well congrats to Movin. I was somewhat hoping that their tweaking the format and adding more currents would work for them at some level. Great to see them rise up, even with all the pop Madonna songs and remixes they still play. I remember saying some time ago "Movin has potential - it could do better". Just didn't think it would happen this soon.

By the way, a majority of my playlists (3 out of 4) in my iPod are all very similar to KZON, or more like what the current KZON would sound like if they had a 98.7 huge variety styled playlist, so I guess after all I might not be a "true" dance fan... but just a rhythmic radio and music fan that also likes the dance style.

If I had choice and money to own and operate my own station, it would most likely be rhythmic, but with some interesting mix shows that would cater to a certain degree to dance.
