Ideal Hosts to Save Air America

NO station will clear "Democracy Now!". Ugh. Not only does it have an NPR meets islamofascist feel to it, it has no avails for news or... more importantly.. spots! :59:50 of content. Maybe some more PT beg-a-thons?

There's a little room for spots - the content is a little less than 59:50. There are a couple musical breaks/interludes during the show, but they're only about a minute each.

As for liberal and/or progressive talk radio 10 years ago (or one-quarter that long ago...2 & a half years ago), when did KGO adopt that format? There were a couple of Black talkers around which tended not to be right-wing wackos. But if you go back to, say, four years ago, I had absolutely NO access whatsoever to ANY progressive or liberal talk show (that I was aware of), with the sole known exception of Ken Marvin on WLS. (Do I have that name correct?) All the talk stuff I was hearing talked about "turd world nations," blamed Bill Clinton for NineOneOne, screamed and screeched against gay marriage and flag burning (the latter is the biggest non-issue of all time), etc. Go back somewhat farther (ten years?) and there was Jim Hightower's Chat-'n-Chew middays, a show I unfortunately found out about maybe three days before it was canned from ABC.

I feel the best "talk show" out there, period, is one on TV that is extremely underrated, and almost never mentioned by anybody: C-Span's WASHINGTON JOURNAL. It is actually set up to assure a political balance of callers, and there are some great interviews on it.

I hope that "progressive talk" has gained enough taxiing speed so that it can fly *WHEN* Air America is pulled from under its feet. For so long, I thought Ed Schultz was with AAN, I consider him the best of the lot...

Let It Die

You won't be hearing Bob Lassiter on Air America. He died about a month ago. :'(

So did Air Air America Radio.

Apparently, this thread was started by someone who thinks AAR and progressive talk radio are the same thing, and is not aware of the syndicated hosts doing liberal talk shows who have nothing to do with AAR.

In any case, they were supposed to get the turkey sold in early November. Then they got an court extension until November 22nd (the anniversary of the Kennedy assassination). Then nothing. Maybe the trade media isn't bothering to check with the bankruptcy court. If AAR has gotten more extensions, it should be public record. If they missed their deadlines, that should be public record, too. But its sounding like the deal feel through. If past history is any guide, the current management and boards were being idiots and the potential buyer had enough and walked.

Somebody pull the plug on the Terry Schiavo of radio syndication.

Jay Marvin is recovering from getting his stomach stapled. I guess he wanted to get the procedure done while he still has health insurance. The way things are going, he might be put on the Clear Channel diet: No job. No money. Stop buying food. Stop eating.

Yep...JAY Marvin...thanks!

I was going to mention, too, that he, though being pretty much the ONLY "liberal OR progressive" voice available to me for *YEARS*, I could not stand listening to him. He was horribly, uncompromisingly rude to many of his callers and that approach totally rubbed me the wrong way. ("Get off my phone, you BRAINSTEM!") I felt, at the time, that he had been placed - with rude approach intact - solely to give liberals a bad name.
