Ideas for Radio Stations w/o Major Format Flips

No way. The 80's Point format is not the "Star" format you hear on the HD2. That HD2 has been spinning the same 300 songs since they turned it on a few years ago. I haven't heard anything added or taken away. And that I just don't understand. When they flipped 101.5, they should have immediately dropped the stupid Star jukebox and run the old Point format on the HD2. Shouldn't have been that hard. But I reiterate, no way is Star 101.5 a "gutted" Point.

As for 97X, the best format for that signal (currently) IMHO is New Rock. Unique enough programming for folks to forgive the signal issues, delivers the younger male demos, protects WHPT (and to a lesser extent The Eagle), and generally keeps the lights on, which is all Cox expects of WSUN.
I just feel there is still a audience that wants to hear 80's and 90's music. Why do you think Cox kept 101.5 as "The Point" for 10 years. Where else 80's radio stations died out around 2003 in most other cities.
Sorry, I like Magic 94-9's music but they still don't come close to playing the amount of 80's and 90's music people want to hear.
Despite the short playlist I liked "The Point". The station played music that I wanted the hear. The station opened my world to the New Wave and Post-Punk music scene of the 1980's. Adding Pop artists like Madonna, Hall and Oates, Cyndi Lauper, Micheal Jackson and so on would have been nice though.
The only thing the Star 101.5 HD2 has that is familiar to Point listeners is Corey Dylan doing the stations imaging. Other than that Star is Modern AC.

My only concern with the Point is/was this: Why is it a rock based format? How much GREAT urban/r&b poured out of the 80's and they play very little, why is that?
Don't think many of these 80's stations are still around. Still don't understand why any radio station would limit their library to 300 stale and tired hits. Can't radio at least refresh the playlists every 3-4 months, instead of once a year.
